On the topic of desserts, has anyone had, or know of anyone who has had, the French style apple pie "Tarte Tatin" served warm with cinnamon parfait? Our dessert choice (El Cocotal) is between that and the Profiterols Dorado with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and pepper foam (which from previous posts looks and sounds delish!)

I had the Profiterols Dorado with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and pepper foam.  I was not really a big fan.  The only part i liked was the chocolate.  The profiterols were very dry!  It was one of my least favorite desserts of the trip!

Aw man! Sorry to hear that! Thanks for the insight. Trying to get as much feedback as possibly on these desserts, since we're not doing a cake or cupcakes!

for what it's worth..we had cupcakes - and while the profiteroles may not be the resort's BEST dessert, it was better than those cupcakes I paid extra for!!

We got the petit cake, just because I wanted to do the cake cutting. They said it would only feed two, but almost everyone from our 20 guests had some! I'm not a big cake person, but my husband said it was amazing. We got chocolate. Are you having it at a restaurant? We did a private reception and chose the mango cheesecake for everyone.

Lindsey - the petite cake is so cute! I wish I had gone with that.

we did the tres leches cake for our dessert - it was on the pick & choose lunch menu, and we substituted it for part of our pick & choose dinner menu. it was YUMMY. better than the cupcakes (they were ok, but not the greatest..that's all!)

The petit cake and the mango cheesecake both look fantastic! We're just doing Cocotal (about 30 people), no private reception/cake cutting/DJ, so our choices are the Profiteroles, the crème brulee with jasmine and grapefruit and almond croquant, the gran marnier soufflé, the apple pie "tarte tatin", and the baked assorted berries with pastis and chocolate granite. (I'm not much of a "foodie" so I don't know what half of those terms mean! LOL) Thanks to everyone for your input!

That's so good to know! We're choosing the beef tenderloin along with the carmelized chicken breast, vegetable tower, and Caesar salad. Still undecided on the dessert :-) But that beef looks Yum!

Hard to see here, but that and the rice were amazing.

Funny thing is when I asked about the smallest cake I was not offered this. I was told the $60 one that fed 6 people was the smallest we could get... It still amazes me how inconsistent they are about what they offer and prices...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
