El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Oxana,

We used DJ All Music through Lomas. We were very happy with them overall. Their services included a DJ and an MC - they kept our reception rolling and everything happened at the times when I wanted them to (cutting the cake, first dances, etc.).

Thank you!!!!

Just to add to what Allie and Amanda said, we LOVED Cocotal for breakfast. They have a huge with tons of breads, fruit, yogurt, etc.....they do special order omelets and eggs.....or they have a menu with amazing choices. I had fajita and eggs with green sauce almost every day....they were AMAZING!!! I also had an egg white omelet with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese. I just can't say enough about how great all of the food was!!! I can't wait to return in 17 days!!!

Also, what's the deal with this "water journey" at the spa? I'm getting my hair and makeup done the morning of my wedding and was emailed about it. Worth it, waste of time? Is it extra $? Lemme know!

Hi Riz!

we met DJ All Music when our onsite WC took us to Tucanes for our reception. the guys came out to meet us before they introduced the bridal party (in our case, our parents) and us. I confess - I don't remember their actual names! It was all a blur at that point...

BUT never fear - it's not winging it at all!! they have a pretty detailed excel spreadsheet that you fill out with your Lomas WC ahead of time once you decide to book them. You choose all of your playlists for dinner, and for the reception. The spreadsheet includes any of the announcements you want made - introductions when you/your bridal party walk in, cake cutting, announcing the father/daughter dance, garter toss, etc. It also asks when you want each of those events to happen and then the MC will move through any of the events you have based on what you outline.

For us, it wasn't necessarily a specific time - like cake cutting - 7pm, first dance, 7:30pm, etc. Our cues were more like

"cut the cake in between the entree course and dessert course" and "first dance - after dessert is finished". So they had all of that timing set out, and it really worked well.

As such, we planned about 17 minutes of music for our playlist, and then the last song is the one my FI and his BM will walk down to. My question is, how early did your guests start arriving? Meaning, do you think I need to have more than this 17ish minutes of music? I couldn't imagine people arriving much sooner than that.

My other, and I know this is probably more of a personal preference, but I am torn between what to walk down the aisle to. Originally I was going to do the Vitamin String Quartet version of Bruno Mars (thanks, Allie!) which can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_i_0?rh=k%3Avitamin+string+quartet+bruno%2Ci%3Adigital-music&keywords=vitamin+string+quartet+bruno&ie=UTF8&qid=1364216396&ajr=0

But then I really love the song Marry Me by Train, and found a nice acoustic one that I fell in love with (like #2)

I can't decide! The two are totally different. The first is a bit more happy/upbeat, and I really love it and could see myself walking down the aisle smiling. The second is a bit more somber, but so beautiful and I love the lyrics of that song. I could see myself getting teary eyed walking down the aisle to that. At this point I just want someone to decide for me haha. My FI likes the Bruno Mars a bit more. Figured I'd poll you ladies and see what you think!

We did not, we used an Ipod and hooked it up to their big speakers because we wanted to save money on our end and it worked really well.

So I've had my fake flowers sitting in our guest room for about three months, and finally decided I needed to buckle down and make my bouquets. I'm making one for my MOH and myself; this one is the one for my MOH. Mine will be mostly purple, with a few white. I want honest opinions. Do these look homemade? I'm worried eveything is going to look clearly like it was a DIY. I have no problem redoing it if it does, I'd rather do that and have it look perfect! I wasn't sure about the gray ribbon. But white just didn't look quite right with the ivory flowers/dress, and we couldn't find the perfect shade of ivory.

I REALLY wanted callallies for our wedding (they were my parents wedding flower), but our WC said they werent in season so I felt like i "settled" with the flowers we used. Seeing yours makes me wish we had gone the fake flower route!

Thank you! It was a bit harder than I had anticipated haha.  I was SO impressed with how nice the fake flowers were from Hobby Lobby. They even feel real, so as much as I'd love to have gotten real ones, this was so much more economical.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
