Just hard to remind yourself at times. I just need to get better at learning to accept it, seeing as his family has always been dysfunctional, and now they'll be in my life forever!

I agree with your Mom. The people that are coming want to be there for you and love you and your FI. It's about the quality of the people not the quantity and you are going to have a blast at your wedding with the guests that will be there. His family may be dysfunctional but who's isn't? Accept them for who they are and try to focus on the good. My mom always tells me you can't change the situation only how you react to it. Focus on you, your FI, and your upcoming beautiful wedding with those that are lucky to be there.

Have a great time at your shower this weekend!

I'll spend the extra money on spoiling the shit out the people who are coming.  I went to Target and they've got sun hats and beach bags for $3 each.  I'm buying those and getting Audrey Hepburn style glasses and I found online beach sarongs.  The 6 ladies who come and I will be styling!  Todd also suggested that we pay for a trip for everyone with the money we're saving on meals, since we'll be spending so much less.  So I think we're gonna offer to take everyone out on a catamaran on the day after the wedding...and we'll still be in budget.  So HA!  take that people who don't care about us...

I LOVE that idea. Great attitude! You and your guests are going to have a blast!

Well here it is.....the long awaited dress pictures!!! I sure hope that the photographer can do a better job than my mom, I am not so photgenic and feel like I look a bit frumpy in these pics but we are always our own worst critics aren't we?

So, the dress is short in the front and long in the back. It's hard to see, but I had her sew a starfish on to the bow....I will get a better pic of that later. The top is sheer with a drop waist. She had to put new bra cups in so I looked like I had a little something up top!!! As you can tell from the face forward shot we didn't get the back corseted quite tight enough but you get the general idea! I love it and think it's the perfect dress for a beach wedding!!! YAY!!

Ladies, I am having a set menu for my private reception and was told that I won't know the vegetarian meal option until a few days before the wedding. I wanted to create printed menus and was wondering if you have wording for the veggie option since I don't know exactly what it is??

I don't think that's right. I was able to choose a stuffed pasta as mine when I chose which two meal options we were offering.

Interesting!  We were able to choose one of the pasta dishes as our vegetarian entree. We did a pick & choose menu though, and the vegetarian option was actually our 3rd entree choice (but we didn't have it printed on our menus). I'm wondering if they are saying you have to wait based on the set menu format.

I'd suggest asking them for examples of vegetarian options, and maybe you can generalize from that? or take a cop out and say "vegetarian option will be offered" as a footnote on the menu.

OK girls--- just settling back into real life after a wonderful week in Mexicoooo. :-) I have SO much to share after my trip, and am so behind in this blog i'm going to try to go through and answer some questions that might help put you future EDR brides' minds at ease! :-)

Don't worry about the size.... we had 25, and I couldn't believe how nicely they set up Tucanes for us, we completely took up the whole place. It is a perfect place for a reception, hell, it would be perfect even if it was just a family dinner! The bartenders there rocked my world and were fun and it was private enough that it made you feel like you're in your own world. Health Bar would be pretty, too, just more out in the open, but you'd have a view of the beach which is nice. I don't for a second think you should worry about the size- that was such a big worry of mine, not even worth a second of worrying!! Also, even though it's not supposed to rain there in Feb, it did, so the bride getting married on the beach was goingto have to spend over $2K to get a tent to cover everyone if it rained! Tucanes that isn't a concern. :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
