El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Ok.. I have another contender idea for centerpieces.  This is totally different.  I just stumbled on this yesterday.  They are these flower covered wine glasses, with led tea lights in them.

Here's what they look like in light and lit up at night.

The lit one is off a website.. a little different, not painted and made of vellum.  If I were to do this I'd do better and less sloppy painting and do them on vellum. plus, I think I'd paint both sides... or maybe use a pattered paper instead of painting.

They assembled in less than 5 mins... so they're really quick and easy to do.

Here's the table mock ups I did with it. .. I would also add some votives or tea lights like in the sample picture.

You will not be disappointed, I had my wedding there in April and if I had to do it again, I would chose El Dorado Royale hands down. We loved it and loved everything about our day. You will be very pleased with everything. We used our Travel agent and she was amazing through the whole process. Also, stuff can add up, but bringing alot of your stuff down for the wedding is helpful. We also, didn't go crazy with thing's, we kept things simple. Best of luck with planning, you will enjoy your day!!! :)

I am new to this forum. I just booked our wedding on May 31, 2013 at the El Dorado Royale. I am really excited but a little nervous booking a place site unseen. My FI and I chose a destination wedding because we both have small families and most of our friends and family are spread all over the place. I also didn't want to be a bride that had to pick details from a million different vendors and I want to be able to party and see my friends for more that a few hours. Plus who doesn't love the beach?

Did you all use TA's? I found the rates to be better and we are only using her for the rooms, not airfare. I am super nervous because I have read some bad reviews about the site I used - destination weddings.com. I am also nervous about the how all the little extras from the resort will add up.

I guess I am looking for some reassurance and some wedding buddies.

hey JEM - welcome to the EDR thread!!! I have to echo what Amanda said. I felt the same way you did - we hadn't been to EDR before our wedding, and I was sooooo nervous about it. It was absolutely AMAZING. the resort is gorgeous, service is fantastic, and their weddings are gorgeous.

we used a TA, and she primarily did the rooms, though she did help some folks with their airfare too. It was much easier than trying to get everyone to book and pay by myself.

like Amanda, we kept the decorations and extras to a minimum - the beauty of the resort really shines through, and I didn't feel the need to do a ton more. if we can help you with ANY of those ideas or decisions, please let us know.

Welcome! Definitely go the TA route - it will save you a lot of headache, and will make it easier for your guests to book. We were going to at first, but I'm so glad we did. Our wedding is May 11, so it looks like you're just a few weeks after me! Let me know if you have decided on decor or anything, and if it happens to be the same color scheme as mine, I can try to leave stuff behind :) We are also doing a small wedding, only about 25 people (max, including us and our 2 photographers).

The extras can add up quickly, so you just need to keep in mind what is really important to you, and what you're willing to pay extra on. I figure if I'm getting married on a beach in Mexico, do I really need a ton of decoration? Also, the markup for the resort stuff is insane. So try to buy and bring what you can. Earlier in the thread there are a lot of posts about where to get chair sashes and linens on the cheap, tableclothsfactory.com. I highly recommend doing this. We are bringing our sashes, table runners, gazebo fabric, etc. I know it can be pretty overwhelming at first, feel free to send me a PM if I can be of more help or answer any questions! Getting close!! My wedding is four months away now and it's flying.

Hi ladies,

We are headed to Mexico on Monday because we were unable to go over our anniversary due to my husband's vacation time that had to be used by January. This time we are headed to Azul fives, we had to save on money since the trip was so soon. So we did funjet's deal ( Azul's fun for less) through our travel agent, where they e-mail you your resort a couple days before you leave, so you don't know which one you end up at. We are still very excited since we did tour all the karisma properties 2 years ago for our wedding. It however is a kid resort, but hopefully since kid's are in school we will not have as many. I will have to let you know how it end's up for future reference if anyone has kids. :)

Welcome Jem236!!!

I will echo what the others have said, EDR is amazing!!! I'm getting married in April and chose EDR from my TA's recommendation. I was lucky enough to take a trip there in September to check things out, and WOW was I impressed!! The food is incredible (I gained 5 lbs in 5 days....of course I ate guacamole with every meal cheesy.gif)

My TA has been great and most of my guests have booked with her. As of today I only have 14 confirmed guests, and I am good with that!!

Everyone on this site is SO incredibly helpful and supportive. This site has been a great source of information for me. Feel free to ask anything, all of these girls are wonderful.

There are many, many DIY projects that will save you a ton of money. So take your time and research and then hop in!!! It can be a bit overwhelming, as you can see I've had my share of melt downs!! Enjoy it and ask as many questions as you need to!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
