I really like the boxes, but what is the cost difference?

My FI refuses to wear flip flops of any kind and is adamant on wearing his Sperry "boat" type shoes.

He's wearing linen pants and short sleeve linen shirt, so I'm ok with that. It's the only thing he really had an opinion on, so I said wear whatever your little heart desires!!!

what kind of footware are your men wearing?  Does sand get inside the Men's dress shoes?  Should he be wearing sandals?  and if they're wearing sandals has anyone found any that look at least a little bit more formal?

I'm already feeling better, I guess sometimes we just need a moment.

I'm glad yours worked out for you too!! You are SOOO close, are you excited? Have you got everything ready?

Did you do a planning thread yet? I'm addicted to reading those now :)

She was the first person to put a deposit down and knew we were getting married in Mexico since Nov. 2011. I felt bad for my FI b/c I know she gave a lot of BS excuses and kind of showed how if it is not about her it doesn't matter (b/c in her next breath she asked if he would spend $1600 to come celebrate her 30th with her a month before our wedding). Anyway with her backing out lost us a free room which then screwed up our wedding budget. So for a couple days maybe a week I was pissed b/c I had to give up a couple extras that would not really matter in the end, but in the moment it felt like it did matter. Now it has been a couple weeks since all that happen and I started eating Ramon to afford those extras Just kidding. I got over the stuff that was not really needed and focused that the people that are going to be there are the ones that truly care and made the effort to save for it. And in the end it is not about who is at the wedding (we all know that is the sacrifice you make and this will happen when you choose to do a DW) or what add ons you did or didn't have... It is about you and your FI only!

Unfortunately in maintaining the Website my FI wanted to have and a couple other things I have not even thought about doing a planning Thread. I know I am a slacker sorry girls. I am not that crafty so I could not compete with AllieH's thread I will just say Ditto for me! LOL! Plus in the mist of all this I am the busiest I have been at work in months. This time last year I was die to be busy I wish my work load was like last year. LOL!

There are a few things that I am doing that I will have to try and do a write up after it is all said and done. We went against OOT bag delivered to the rooms for 2 reasons 1) I don't want to pay $4 a person to have then delivered and 2) they would not be delivered until 7pm when I would already need guest to be at planned events. We are doing Koozies b/c we will be able to use them at the Receptions back home as wedding favors. For those that are coming to Mexico I found an 80s version of Orange sunglasses to give out at the ceremony with The Deckers est 2.15.13 on the arm of them. My hope is to get a group picture with everyone wearing the sunglasses. My wonderful friend that designed my invites is now designing our wedding itineraries for everyone to have. They will be in the shape of Passport and they will have a daily schedule (mostly just telling people activities they can do and to enjoy this as their vacation) and the wedding timeline along with a few other cute details. I will make sure I post all those things when they are completed.

Hopefully this weekend I will have a little extra time and I will try to post a picture of the things I currently have. The thing is we had a another couple we are friends with that got engaged at the end of Jan. last year decide they were going to do a DW too and have it March 2nd in Punta Cuna. Well we leave for Mexico Feb 10th and get back Feb 24th then we have to turn around and leave March 1st to fly down to their wedding... As time as drawn closer and I am hearing what little effort they are putting into their wedding I am not to happy about the extra expense. It cost me the same amount to go to their wedding for 2 days as it did for a person to come to my wedding for 5 nights. BROKE ARSE BRIDE RIGHT NOW!

not really a cost difference.. I already bought both the boxes and the chargers... the boxes I can still return, but the chargers I bought over a year ago when I thought I'd be doing an at home reception, so I have bunches of them.

girrrrrrl - it's so not a competition!!!! I want to see all that you come up with, and of course your gorgeous photos. I can't wait to hear all about it!!

and I feel ya on the workload thing - our wedding was at the absolute WORST time for me workwise. It shouldn't have been as bad as it was...which is why I chose the timing I did. I hope it all works out wonderfully for you!

I'd go with the chargers and return the boxes. I'm cheap thrifty like that!

Hi Ladies!

I am new to this forum. I just booked our wedding on May 31, 2013 at the El Dorado Royale. I am really excited but a little nervous booking a place site unseen. My FI and I chose a destination wedding because we both have small families and most of our friends and family are spread all over the place. I also didn't want to be a bride that had to pick details from a million different vendors and I want to be able to party and see my friends for more that a few hours. Plus who doesn't love the beach?

Did you all use TA's? I found the rates to be better and we are only using her for the rooms, not airfare. I am super nervous because I have read some bad reviews about the site I used - destination weddings.com. I am also nervous about the how all the little extras from the resort will add up.

I guess I am looking for some reassurance and some wedding buddies.

jnitschke-

I liked the first one a lot! Are you bring your own faux flower petals??

We bought flower petals through Lomas and I think they pulled them from the roses wayyy to early because unfortunatey many of them were brown by the time our reception started angry.gif

If I were to do it again, I think I might go the faux route, especially because they are white. Other color flowers would probably fair better.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
