El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I just read something in a DW book that said make sure you put bug spray on your legs before putting on your dress.  Does anyone remember bugs being a problem at EDR?  Never even thought of mosquitoes and the like being there, which I should have since we have those crazy black spotted African mosquitoes from hell here for half the year now.  Still should I be preparing for something like insects?  Should I put those OFF wipes in my OOT bags?
I personally don't remember any mosquitoes down there. It's always windy which keeps them away, and the resort also sprays. You may find sand fleas at the beach, but i don't even remember those being an issue. (But that would be what your friend is talking about spraying your legs. Those sand fleas stay knee down.lol)

We did a site visit in September and there were no mosquitos or sand fleas that I noticed.

We spent a good amount of time laying on the beach and didn't have any issues.

Keep in mind that was September so I'm not sure what other times of the year will be like.

Our wedding is in April so I'm hoping it's never an issue!!!

I had quite a few bites on my legs - pretty sure they were from sand fleas, but could have been some mosquitos. They were itchy as hell too!! So yes, I'd take some sort of bug repellent for the evenings. We didn't really have problems during the day, but every morning I'd find new bites on my legs from the night before. The resort gave us some after-sun and bug-repellent for us, but I think off wipes would be a great idea for the bags. Better to be safe than sorry!

Allie,

I'm glad you clarified that because we did not spend much time on the beach in the evenings and I never thought about them being worse at night. I'm going to add some Off wipes to my OOT bags as well!!

I feel so pressured and I still have over 3 months.....whew!!

I do have plenty to keep me busy though. My oldest son joined the Army and ships out Jan 28, my youngest and I are visiting 6 colleges before national signing day and he's in a pageant of sorts at school. Talk about an emotional roller coaster and those things are just the beginning of my crazy year!!

So, HAPPY NEW YEAR all you past and future EDR brides......let the fun begin!!! shots.gif (I will need all this tequila to survive)!

hehe yeah - we liked to spend a little time on the beach beds after dinner and before we went to bed. So I am blaming my bug bites on that!

You do have a lot going on. I will be thinking about your family as your son ships off to basic, and the college choices.

With the wedding - don't let it stress you out. easy to say now that mine is done! but seriously, enjoy it. take a deep breath and remember why you're doing all of this. it'll all work out just fine when you're there.

This is my latest project.......will post a better picture once they are all complete, but WOW what was I thinking!!???!?!?!?!?

Good times for me and my MOH.

Have I mentioned that I live in SC and my FI lives in WV? We only see each other every 5 to 6 weeks and my MOH also lives in WV.

Trying to do craft projects long distance is difficult!!

What do you think.....they will be nice and cooling in the Mexican breeze!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
