El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I am happy to report that we have added a new member to the BDW Team (and hope to add more in the near future!).

Congratulations to Miriam (Murmel).  Miriam has done an amazing job helping Azul Sensatori Brides and will now work on being the Brand Specialist for all of the Karisma Hotels (Azul Sensatori, Azul Beach, Azul Fives, El Droado Maroma, El Dorado Seaside, El Dorado Royal & El Dorado Casitas).

She will pretty much continue doing what she has been doing, which is helping BDW brides!

Welcome to the BDW Team, Miriam!

We tipped at every meal and would tip the bartender every day. We also left some money for the housekeeper and min bar stocker every day. They dont make you feel like you have to, but they generally provide such good service that they deserve it. We had a lot of  issues with our WC so we did not tip. Be wary at the airport because the workers will take your bag from your hands and walk it 10 feet, then stand there saying the word "tip" over and over again until you pay them to leave you alone!

It's a personal choice. But usually people will tip a little, as they see appropriate. If you get great service, it's nice to show your appreciation.

I agree with Nikki & Miriam - we tipped bartenders (usually every other round), room service, some of our waitstaff, the concierge we worked with most of the time and our housekeeper because everyone was so wonderful to us.

I admit I was a horrible bride and didn't tip the DJ or the wedding coordinators - I completely didn't think about this ahead of time. It didn't occur to me until we got back that we should have (I know, I know!!!!! shame on me). I've tried to make up for it by giving them both lots of positive feedback on FB and their websites.

Thanks everyone! My fiance kept insisting (and telling his family, despite my protests) that this wasn't necessary. So are we just talking like a buck here, a buck there, or were you all doing more than that? I wasn't sure about the WC, because I have Claudia (who I've been emailing) and then we'll have someone else on-site. I wasn't sure what is typical to tip them, if you chose to. Thanks ladies!!

They did a FANTASTIC job with the set up. I had a list, and she went through the bags and then would ask me what I wanted them to do with other things that I forgot on my list, but had packed away.

We brought everything in suitcases. We picked up some cheap luggage sets from sales at Macy's, mostly for the big bag, but it also had a couple of smaller suitcases. All I can say is that now we have more luggage than we'll ever need! lol

All of the lanterns, parasols, the basket, chair sashes and table runners went in a 29" suitcase that my mom brought. I had all of the OOT bags, paper items and favors with us in 3 smaller suitcases. Coming back, I packed my dress in one bag, tucked that suitcase inside the 29" bag, and then we packed the rest up.

In total, we had 6 suitcases - 2 for our clothes, 4 for wedding "stuff", plus my dress. So coming back we had 5 suitcases, and the dress was in one of those bags.

I will be working to sell the lanterns, chair sashes, table runners, shells, starfish and the misc. leftovers I have. I'm hoping I'll get them all posted next week wink.gif

I wish we were using the same colors as you, if so I would totally buy your stuff!! Love the way you decorated!! Did you say they only charged you $150 for everything in the set up? Thanks for the website & all the information.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
