We bought a Logitech Speaker (model #S715i). http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/logitech-logitech-rechargeable-speaker-s715i-930-000134/10151833.aspx

It works super well, is fairly small....so easy to pack. And if needed is rechargeable, which made it super fun to have on the beach with friends. We've had ours for about 2 years now and it has taken quite a beating and is still going strong!

Yeah, Valeria quoted and let another bride (Nikki/MrsWolfert maybe?) pay for her set up ahead of time I think. I am working with Natalia, and couldn't get a reasonable fee from her to pay ahead so I dropped the subject.

I am kind of scared to find the set up fee. I want to take strands of Christmas lights to put around the poles at Tucanes because they charge $50 each if we use theirs so I asked Valeria how much the set up fee would be for those and she has yet to respond. I am interested in hearing how much yours ends up being Allie, please let us know. Who is your WD?

jnitschke - it sounds like we are having very similar weddings! We still haven't decided on casita or not, but had originally planned like you and moving their after the wedding for a "honeymoon" feel. We haven't ordered invites yet, but our save the dates will be here next week and we'll probably send out the actual invitations in February. We've only been engaged a few weeks, so we're planning the whole thing in about 7 months. Are you bringing your own decor in? I think I convinced my fiance that it's worth it to spring for the private reception. After all, you only (hopefully!) are getting married once. So are you going with the cheapest package after the free, the $950?

We are also going to go with the symbolic ceremony, and get legally married here before we leave. I couldn't justify the cost and extra time it requires, plus I hate needles!

Does anyone know if you can build your own custom package? Like not pick the free or $950 one, but just pick the things you want from the Lomas website and do it that way? I thought if so that way we wouldn't need a week at the casita, but we may still be able to custom build what we want and still come in under the $950 package.

Hope you all have a good weekend! I'm in Chicago, and it's finally starting to get cold....

We were weighing those options too... I didn't really want to spend $1500 on the DJ either. To be honest I found a company to customize handmade wooden maracas for our favors. Yes is it a little pricey but I would rather have that what a small portion of the money on to then a DJ that has no reviews. Plus I keep hearing that I would have to create the entire play list anyways so I could just put in on my ipod and be good to go. We have about 45-50 people coming (when we started planning a destination wedding we thought we would get about 30 people at max) so we were leaning towards doing the ipod hookup. Mainly b/c it comes with a mic so we have a friend that agreed to introduce us into the reception and then we wanted the MOH and BM speeches to be heard. cheesy.gif

Also my TA's niece got married about a little over a year a go doing a DW and she was telling us that her niece did the ipod route and they had a blast. They just played the dance playlist they created and they actually listen to the same song 3 times b/c they wanted to dance to it again.

I don't want to spend over $150 for the device but I want it to be pretty loud and not sound "cheap". Any suggestions??

Thanks!!

I was thinking of not doing a package and just picking things ala carte... but I haven't gotten an ok for sure yet on that... so I don't want to be an authority on this... I asked if I could do that and Alejandro didn't really say anything about it one way or another.

It's actually NOTHING like I thought I was going to chose. I had been wanting something either chiffon or lace, however I wasn't happy with any of those. My consultant pulled a dress I would've never picked for myself, but that I love. It's very timeless, kind of old hollywood glam. It looks a lot better on me than on this model, as I fill it out better with an hourglass shape. I don't think the picture does it justice, the beaded straps are beautiful.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
