Hi Amanda,

Are you still on the site??? Curious to see how the weather was during your wedding dates. Very humid at your wedding location and Tucanes? Getting married same time frame as you but in 2013.

Thx! Mel

Hey!!! It was for sure a warm one, but I rather have that then rain. We got married later around 5pm and then took pictures after and started our reception at 6pm at Tucanes, it was really nice, since we did things later in the evening . We just had lots of water and the bridesmaids and I would sneak off and dip our feet in the pool, it was lots of fun. We actually all ended up stripping down to our bra's and undies and jumped in at the end of the night, it was so much fun. I also, ended up wearing my hair up because of the weather too, but they did an amazing job, so it was all worth the heat. I wouldn't change the way we did things for anything, I was just so pleased that the whole 10 days we were down there, there was no rain and that everyone enjoyed themselves. Best of luck!!!! :)

I'm meeting with the shop owner tonight to discuss further. The reality is it looks fine the way it is, but the point is my train is much shorter, and is no longer a chapel length train - I bought a dress with a chapel train. So we'll see what happens. Not at all looking forward to the confrontation.

I sent nearly all of my decorations (sashes, paper lanterns, table runners, shells, basket) home with my mom, so that's 1 suitcase of "stuff" packed.

Hope everyone is doing well!

So sorry to hear you trying to deal with a dress issue. Hopefully the salon will be able to fix the problem quickly. Why on earth did they shorten it without your consent? Personally I would have them order a new one at their expense! Sigh....let us know how it goes Allie. My fingers are crossed for you.

It was a mess to deal with, but she's reworking the train to add length back to it, at her cost. She said she took off 3-4 inches, and adjusted the remaining layers, but it just looked a lot shorter to me. She offered to add a layer back in, or just move the other layers again. I think it'll look better to adjust the remaining layers, so that's what she's working on now. She also forgot to put in my gel cups, so she's adding those too. We'll see if the adjustments work. I go back again next Saturday.

Actually, next Saturday I have 3 appointments: nails, getting my hair straightened and the dress appointment. The madness has begun!! lol

I think we're going to go get our marriage license this week, so we can get the legal stuff done soon too. And make our final payment to EDR.

My list is almost completely done!!

Can you send a copy of your "TO DO" list to me when you're finished?? Lol My wedding isn't until January 5th but I feel like I'm not going to get everything done that I need to. I'm sorry about your dress problems, I hope its perfect after the adjustments. Which Gazebo are you getting married in, by the way? I'm feeling like I should change mine to Gazebo 55.

Are you taking decorations with you?? Can we do that? That would be so much cheaper!!

Valeria told me I could rent a tray for $50.00 and pay for the set-up of the cards too. I said no thank you, I will bring a tray down and will put the sand in it myself and just deliver it to them set up I think. I'm not paying $50 to rent a tray. (So many little costs, ugh!)

I love those place cards...how did you make them? Did you go through someone or did you make them yourself?

Hi Shannon,

Yes, I'm taking decorations with me - chair sashes, paper lanterns (with LED lights), table runners, shells/starfish, and a few other small items. They will charge a set up fee once I get there. Will let you know what that turns out to be.

And I think my to-do list would scare you!!! I'm a list-making fool, and it's the only way I can keep myself organized and on track. I'll post it tonight though (it's at home, not at the office).

I'm planning on our ceremony being at Gazebo 55, since that seems like the most popular. I also like that you can't see the sandbags in the water behind it, like you can some of the other gazebos on the beach. I also liked that it's more secluded and at the far end of the resort. And I like the rock wall that surrounds it.

Like Allie said they'll charge you a set up fee.  It used to be that you could have a family member put out a few things, but they've rescinded that. Even with the set up fee it can be much much cheaper to bring your own.  It's really just a matter of what you're willing to put the effort into.  You can either bring the stuff with you, mail it a few weeks ahead of time to your coordinator, or one idea I'm toying with is using the Walmart in Playa.  Earlier brides posted (pg 86) that there is a shuttle bus that leaves from EDR to there or you can take a cab for about $20.  I might order everything online and have it shipped to the store there directly.... then I might take the shuttle over, and cab it back with all of my goodies...just a thought though, right now I don't have anything completely figured out..... every time I think I've decided something I've changed my mind two days later...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
