El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Right now, for "DJ all Music" which I can barely find online or on Facebook or reviews of (ugh) it's $1000 for 4 hrs, or $1250 for 5. The other DJ on there is $1500 for 4 hours.

Ivan quoted me $800 for 5 hours if I book before the end of the month, but that starting after the 30th the price is going up to $950. So this added to our 3 night rate for single occupancy of $771 (or $639 for double if I have him "room" with my grandmother on paper but not in reality). So $1439 for Ivan, or 1250-1500 for the resorts DJ. Ivan had tons of Great reviews (I know your experience was less than stellar, Nikki, but hopefully that was a unique situation? ugh) whereas the resort ones have no reviews.

I really have been leaning towards no DJ, but then I read Ivan's reviews and everyoen says how much of a difference he made so now I feel like I should do it. I dont know!!! confused.gif

Gotcha... yes, everything is such a rediculous add on fee. Especially since they won't let us do our own set up anymore!

So while guests were at the informal cocktail hour...  I could have the coordinator take the girls flowers after a few pictures after the ceremony, and go put them in pre-set-up vases. That might just solve my problems! :) Did she pull them apart or just casually kind of put them in the vases? Sorry for so many questions!! :)

I had my parents and parents in law bring some things so we didn't have to worry about everything, so it wasn't a huge deal. I'm pretty sure the resort rents vases and I think they would place the flowers for you, but I'm sure it's a ridiculous cost!

Don't worry too much... I feel like everyone one of us has gone through the same thing. People support you on the idea, eveyrone says they're coming, life and $$ get in the way, and you end up with a much smaller party. I originally pictured just a small group, casual thing, but now here I am trying to coordinate what has turned into a normal (but small) wedding... I also don't have a lot of invites back yet (RSVP date is Nov 15th) so it's so hard to plan what services we'll need, but at the same time you have to do it early! Ugh!!

GREAT news, though........ (kind of)..... our photographer has been trying to have a baby (yay!) and thought she'd be due too close to our wedding (boo) but they aren't pregnant yet (boo) but are still going to keep trying, and even if they do get pregnant now, they can still come (YAY). This is such a HUGE relief!!! All of my friends have had them do their weddings and I think they are the best in the world... I would have been stressed out worrying about picking a photographer having her already set the bar so high. PHEW!! woot.gif

Where as the EDR DJ rate was $1500.00 for the same thing... personally I think its ridiculous that they charge so much, when obviously the rate doesn't need to be so high.

... although I might not need a DJ after all... people are dropping like flies... Instead of the 30-40ppl I was thinking it might be closer to 15.. sigh... stupid life happening to people. Even though, I really want fun and dancing I feel like it might be forcing things if it's just US, our parents, and a handful of friends.  I might just change it to dinner on the beach or something.

...but I could just be counting my eggs before they're hatched too.  We haven't even sent out the formal invitations yet.  Some of my "maybe" people may still surprise me.  I'm trying to stay positive.  It's funny because, before I started planning all of this I didn't even want a big party.. and now I'm sad I might not get one. confused.gif

Chiquita, if you find that money tree, will you print off a few bills for me?!

We put that info on our website, but you could totally do a card with cost & payment info on it. Here's our web page with the info we shared:

We did not include a card with payment info because by the time we sent out formal invitations, the people that were realistically coming had already seen the pricing and many had already paid in full.

I e-mailed my WC about this today... I'll let you know what I find out! :-)

EEP! 45 days...

in the family drama category, it looks like I'll be going fishing with my dad the day before the wedding. we wanted my brother to go with him, but his fiance decided to be a selfish brat and won't let him go (and she didn't want to go with them). While I hate not being at the resort with our guests, it'll mean an awful lot to my dad to spend some time with him one on one. at least we won't be gone all day..just the morning. ah...family....

Feb2013 - my fiance shared some more about the iTunes DJ app. he said really all you have to do is build the playlist, and it'll sort the songs and create the transitions for you. he was really excited that you can do it fairly automated, without a ton of work. I will let you know if he shares anything else, and how it works for us.

Happy Friday ladies!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
