What is EDR quoting you for the outside vendor fee? What about DJ Doremixx?

Totally agree with you... the other day I was showing my FI the gifts I got for our mothers and my MOH, he showed like maybe a total of 5 secs of interest and then it was gone! LOL!

The outside vendor fee is $800 and DJ Doremixx is charging $900 for just the basic 3-4 hours of DJ-no extras like the dance floor.

Where as the EDR DJ rate was $1500.00 for the same thing... personally I think its ridiculous that they charge so much, when obviously the rate doesn't need to be so high.

... although I might not need a DJ after all... people are dropping like flies... Instead of the 30-40ppl I was thinking it might be closer to 15.. sigh... stupid life happening to people. Even though, I really want fun and dancing I feel like it might be forcing things if it's just US, our parents, and a handful of friends.  I might just change it to dinner on the beach or something.

...but I could just be counting my eggs before they're hatched too.  We haven't even sent out the formal invitations yet.  Some of my "maybe" people may still surprise me.  I'm trying to stay positive.  It's funny because, before I started planning all of this I didn't even want a big party.. and now I'm sad I might not get one. confused.gif

We chose Doremixx because all of the approved vendors on EDRs list were at least $2k each. They must have decreased prices since people were using outside vendors.

Super helpful!!

I've heard about using the girls flowers for the centerpieces... My only question was how to pull it off without coming off tacky? Did you go put them in at the end of the cocktail hours like before the entrance... or what did you do to make it not-so-obvious?

I love the idea of the menu wtih the wrap around it. :) Great job with everything.

Lastly... It wasn't a huge pain lugging down vases? Thats another thing I was wondering about!

Well I had my mom take the bouquets and set everything up before the rest of the group arrived, no one really paid attention. I had my parents and parents in law bring some things so we didn't have to worry about everything, so it wasn't a huge deal. I'm pretty sure the resort rents vases and I think they would place the flowers for you, but I'm sure it's a ridiculous cost!

Thanks, Allie. I would feel better about that than paying a stupid vendor fee. Ugh... where is my money tree when I need it! eek.gif

I am guessing that if you're paying for the room for the DJ, that no additional people coudl use that room. I'm thinking of it just in terms of an empty spot in a room, but i'd rather pay the double occupancy rate for the Dj and have my grandmother pay the double occupancy rate, and have the DJ go home and she'd get her own room... tahn to pay $800 for the fee and have her pay for a single... Although maybe... because you'd be paying for someone to eat all those meals and he wouldn't be... so it's certainly worth considering...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
