I guess its a good reminder to be careful when doing your TTD in the water. undecided.gif

That's horrible and she was just married in June.

Has anyone done trash the dress?

Hey! Yeah, I didn't care too much about centerpieces so for my main centerpiece (which you don't see in the pic) we used the bridesmaids bouquets, which were just fuchsia roses, in vases we brought down and tied raffia and a starfish around. They looked really nice on the table and it was good to be able to use them for something else. The table number was a picture frame from michaels that had little shells in it. It was actually supposed to have these photo numbers in them but I forgot them at home so we had to improvise and make new numbers on the fuchsia paper that I had on hand- not exactly what I wanted, but oh well. We did maracas for favors (The guests LOVED those- they were cheap and I put little sayings on them, that I found from another bride, that read "Instead of tapping on your glass, here's a system with Mexican class. Stand and shake with all your might, to see the groom kiss his bride tonight." My mom made little bags with pink jelly beans and white jordan almonds (those are the little candy favors you see). Our menus that I made are what have the pink ribbon around it- they are rolled up and my mom made these little net/ starfish ribbon things- hard to explain, i'll post a pic. And yes, we had starfish on the tables along with a few candle votives on each table. I already had too much to bring down so I didn't want any big centerpieces, so it worked out really well what we had. Oh and we also had these little disposable cameras on each table for the guests to take random pictures with, everyone had a blast with that! Here are some photos so you can get a better idea.

This is after the fact, so they look a little beat up, but you get the idea.

So aside from the maraca, it looks like you have candy or something as favors? then what is it that you have the pink bow on?

Otherwise, the main centerpice you have what? I think I see starfsih, and some smaller candles around the table number? If you don't mind chatting centerpieces with me, i'd love to know more about yours... it looks like it was affordable and easy enough to carry down whatever you may have brought.... THANK YOU! :)

That's so sad :( My dress was so lightweight and even that felt ridiculously heavy once it got wet, I can't even imagine what the bigger & heavier dresses must feel like.

Did you/are you guys doing a program for the ceremony?? As much as I love the paper stuff, this is one I'm really on the fence about doing. For one thing, I haven't yet decided what I want the ceremony to be. And I don't expect it to be a long or elaborate ceremony either - not religious, no big singing or music or readings. I'm not even sure I want to do any sort of unity ceremony as part of it. I have fans and tears of joy packets for the ceremony itself, but I'm procrastinating big time on the ceremony planning.

Curious to hear your thoughts...

We did a ceremony program mainly to give credit for the music we were using and to our wedding party and parents. We also included some language on the back about people that couldnt make the trip or family members that had passed away. I think it was a nice touch and I like having the keepsake. Our ceremony was also not religious and we did not do a unity candle. We put them in a small basket with the fans for guests to pick up before being seated. The original plan was to have the programs laying on the seat with the fan weighing them down, but it was too windy for that.

The below images are a draft of our programs. I got the "Thank you" and the "On this day of happinesss..." moved to the back of the program for the final draft.

It's a shame, that people do that, but We had a fantastic time and all our family and friends enjoyed themselves. Most of our group got upgraded to ocean view when they arrived which was awesome, so I am glad they got to experience that. FYI we used the out door shower the whole time, never used the indoor, we just loved it!!!!! It was my favorite thing of the swim up casita, we can't wait to head back next year. :)

So, I went to the links you posted (thank you for that!!) and couldn't help but share with you girls this comment from one  of the terrible reviews....

"The outdoor shower was just weird. I had assumed it was to wash the sand off of you before entering the suite but it was on the opposite side of the room from the patio so you trampled sand and water through the suite when coming in. Plus the shower head sprays water straight out and not down, it's impossible to shower or wash off out there."

I just laughed so hard at all the negative comments this person had, and I"m so glad that I'm not marrying this person- way to kill the romance! I love that they can't think of anything better to do with the shower than to clean off the sand!! fryingpan.gif LOL

And even better,  it was listed for $100 less than David's price and even included free shipping! That was my sign, so I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival to my door! The dress isn't real big so taking two down and using the old one for a TTD session would work out good. Maybe I can get it cleaned up good enough to sell when we get home too! Thanks for the suggestions ladies :)

Jillsepher - Any unexpected illness would be incredibly tough to deal with so close to your big trip, but I can't imagine how much harder it is when it's your vision! We take it for granted and never think of how tough it would be without it. Thank goodness for the timing! I'm glad to hear you are doing better...keep us updated!

TheWolferts - Did they have false eyelahes at the salon when you got your wedding makeup done? I'm not sure wether to bring some from home or not. Also, what kind of sunscreen did you take and did you think it was enough? I've read reviews where people say only zinc oxide works in the Mexican sun but also have heard that regular SPF 30 is enough protection. I've bought both but I don't want to risk getting fried before the wedding angry.gif !!

We're down to three weeks before take off woot.gif! I think I can honestly say I've never been more excited for anything in my life! My FI and I have been on TripAdvisor.com reading people's reviews of the resort and looking at pictures they have posted. Some people really dog the resort but it makes you wonder if they're the kind of people who can never be pleased in life, and others offer really good tips and advice (like packing floats or rafts if you're staying in a swim up).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
