Did you bring your own lanterns or do they have them? Valeria mentioned it would be $150 to hang them... we're doing our reception at Tucanes... I'm torn between those (i've always liked that look) and the lights they wrap around the poles... I think it will come down to how much work and how expensive the two options are...

Thanks!!

mid-July is not necessarily peak season :) which secrets resort?? have you checked out the reviews on trip advisor?

I just have to wonder what is wrong with the resort that they would be able to offer such a deal for a 5 night stay during peak wedding season. I just dont want to take the deal and then get down there and they are doing heavy construction or the pool is being worked on LOL.

The problem with Europe is the getting there. The flights are outrageous!

Nikki-

My travel agent sent a couple to secrets silver sands before and they got bed bugs and their staff did nothing about it to move them and they had to stay in there room, they ended up sleeping on their couch, so she no longer recommends that based on how they handled the situation. Just wanted to inform you on that, granted that may not happen just how they handle the situation is just in it self is just sad.

Well the dates they are offering are from now until mid July. It has great reviews on trip advisor, but I just cant see how they would offer their rooms for less than $100 a per person night.

if they aren't full, then they will offer the last minute deals. Not everyone can take off for a week with just a couple of weeks' notice. and remember that it's pretty hot in July in most of the caribbean. Still a good time to go - not very likely there will be hurricanes or tropical storms.

July is smack in the middle of hurricane season, and the temps are high, so they're probably low balling the price to get the place up to capacity.

Yes - I had my hair and make-up done by Claudia at the Casita Spa. She was wonderful. I was a little nervous about having it done without a run-through ahead of time, but everyone there was doing a wonderful job. Two other brides were in there at the same time as me, and everyone's hair looked amazing.

Thanks for the welcomes welcome.gif! We are piecing things together slowly but surely. As for a dress, I'm actually in love with one that is $198!! Haven't purchased just yet since I'm still looking around but I'm confident I can stay under $500. We are doing a 6 nights stay, in the regular part of the resort, forfeiting the "free wedding". I am a teacher so I can't take more then a week off in the middle of the school year :P With the silver package being $950, that certainly ups the budget a bit.. I'm wondering if that includes the paperwork/ legalities/ translation. I know it is another $500 for the judge as well as the blood work fee...

Any tips about how you've found ways to save a little here or there would be appreciated!

Valeria is our on-site coordinator, I have not been in touch with her yet. A little overwhelmed with the school year ending and trying to get everything into it's place.

As for photographers? Has anyone been able to find a quality deal? It's looking like an avg. of $1000 or so..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
