Would you mind possibly keeping my name out of your conversation with Valeria? Perhaps you can just mention that you saw on a message board that someone else working with Lomas was quoted a flat fee and ask her in what scenario that would occur?

I am all for everyone getting a fair price, I just dont want to deal with her coming to me saying that because I told you all about the quotes, she now has to bring my prices up, rather than bring everyone's prices down.

We have 30+ guests going so the fee is gong to be at least $150. I'm going to email her about your $60 total fee for the set up and see what she says. Why can't they keep things consistent? It seems shady that they are quoting different things to different people...

Hey girls! Just want to mention that the WC's all read this blog! ;) We are frequent guests at EDR and had our Wedding there 11-11-11! I found this out in casual conversation with the WC. The WC's really do an outstanding job :) The closer to your date, the quicker they are to response. Just keep all of your emails and take them with you to your meeting. No worries, they really do try to make everything perfect! I would do it all again in a heartbeat! In fact we are going for our 6 month anniversary in May... It's that fabulous! Best wishes!

A quick update on where my FI and I are in our process leading up to our wedding on May 19th:

We're planning to do a family only dinner the first night we get in on May 17th for a group of 12-14, but we haven't quite figured out how best to approach this.  Should we set it up as just a normal group dinner as though we were all there as guests together?  We considered doing a small private dinner, but we certainly don't need 4 hours of service for the meal.

The next night, we're doing the "rehearsal dinner" as our group dinner included in our free wedding package with all of our guests (30-35, we have some stragglers that are still "on the fence").  That dinner with be at La Isla.  (I'm assuming Cocotal must have been full or something, but I think we will like La Isla better anyway.)

The wedding is going to be at 3pm on May 19th at Gazebo 55.  We're expecting it to be hot, but we're just planning to have the dress code take that into account (e.g., no shoes, sundresses, lots of sunscreen).  I figure there should be a breeze off the water at least.  We ended up picking Sarani for our photography and are only going to do pictures for the time before the ceremony, during, and immediately after.

We then have some time between for guests to cool off and change before dinner at 6pm.  We're having the dinner and reception at the Mexican Gazebo, as there were not many options given to us besides that location.  We're okay with it, but Claudia kept trying to talk us out of it due to the heat and bugs (?!) in that area of the resort.  The only other options were to do the reception on the beach by Guacamayas (which wouldn't be private at all and would have to be over no later than 9pm) or in the ballroom garden, which also didn't look very appealing.  We're going to do the BBQ Buffet (as table service is not available in that reception location for some reason).  We bought our own table decorations ahead of time on Etsy and at a craft store.  We will have table numbers made out of crushed sea shells, random shells and aqua-colored glass spread out on the table, some blue bottles filled with sand, and some aqua-colored candelabras.  For favors, we're going to do crystal seashell bottle stoppers for the ladies and a bottle opener for the guys.  We ended up getting DJ Doremixx for the reception as we were getting very anxious about having to control the flow of things ourselves.  We're both lawyers and thus VERY type A, so I could see my FI and I walking on eggshells if we had to rely on an iPod all night.

Most of our family leaves on Sunday, so we're hoping to do a friends-only excursion that day or on Monday.  We're still kicking around ideas on that one though.

We're staying in the swim-up casitas for seven nights in order to receive our free wedding.  (We stayed in the swim-up suites last time and absolutely fell in love with sitting in the lazy river all day.)  After finishing up at EDR, we're going to go over to Merida and spend a few days exploring that city before returning to the real world after Memorial Day.

Here's hoping we don't forget too many details!

That sounds so pretty! Do you have any pictures of the table runners? That sounds so interesting!

Stina - yes, we're on the edge of Arlington & Fort Worth. We were all fine and clear at home. Had to take shelter in downtown Dallas while working today though - fun times hiding in the stairwell waiting for the tornado to pass.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
