El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been to the Beach Bar? Any comments on if that would be a good place for our guests to go after our ceremony as they wait for our reception at Tucanes?

Also, a non-wedding related question, does anyone know if they play music at any of the pools during the day? Perhaps at the main pool? If not, I was considering bringing a BOSE portable player for ipods for our guests to play some music. I would assume they won't let us do that, but I'm curious if anyone else has tried and maybe succeeded?

You are amazing! What a nice offer! If you remember, would you take some pics of the Beach Bar? Our WC just recommended that bar to our guests as a place to go after our ceremony (as guests wait for the reception to begin). I've never seen it, so I'm curious what it's like. :)

Done! I will post photos when I return.

I will keep my ears open and listen. We had a Ipod player at a sister resort (Sensatori) and used it during the day- it was a blast!

Wow - so there are a lot of us getting married soon!! Yay!! I can't wait to hear the reviews and see all of the pictures :) It sounds like the first is 'Stina9562' on April 20, then 'TheWolferts' on May 12, then 'Alison04' on May 30, myself on June 30, and 'AllieH' on November 5. Is there anyone I missed?

Definetly try and stay in the Casitas! They are wonderful! And we were upgraded on our second night....We stayed 9 nights and went with the free wedding package...I had some extra expenses like colored sheers, flowers, private cocktail & BBQ on beach, table decor, tiki torches. All and all, it was still so much cheaper than a wedding at home. I picked tropical flowers  and went with the basic bridal and bridesmaid size and they turned out gorgeous!  $160 total for all 3 of our bouquets. It is $10 extra if you want your bouquet long stems with ribbon. I did this to match the sash on my dress and so happy I did. Our flowers were delivered to us while we were in the spa.   You really don't have to spend a lot , they make it all very pretty. I saw several weddings with white ( free) sheers set up on beach gazebos and it looked very nice. Some of the Gazebo  sites do not need sheers, they are white with lattice edging. Depends on the location you choose. I did not go with an aisle runner  (extra $$) I just had rose petals in the sand- looked beautiful!

The girls and I did get our hair and make up done at the spa. We were very happy with both. My stylist insisted i have fresh flowers in my hair and went outside and picked em herself! They really listen to you and you can bring a picture.  The appointments are scheduled thru the WC and will be on your spreadsheet. We choose not to book the bridal suite, instead went back to our casitas and had appetizers and champagne delivered! Fun!

I hope to post pictures, I'm usually on my iPad instead of computer tho! ;)

Great question. I also am curious about what to do with the groom on the day-of. I was just going to have him get ready in one of the groomsmen's rooms, but now that you mention it, I sort of remember reading somewhere a while back that they do provide a room for the groom. Maybe I'm making that up? If anyone knows, please advise. Thanks :)

ElDorado2012-

I just got confirmation from my WC that the Groom will have a room on the wedding day from 10am-4pm to get ready in and it is stocked with a selection of beverages and "gourmet bites".

I almost wish it was the other way around, so that all my BMs and I wouldnt be getting ready in the room I will be staying in all week long! I will feel like I need to "tidy up" the day before the wedding, so that 5 girls can get ready at once! Also, we are staying in a Casitas and I think that Gazebo 55 is on the opposite side of the resort i.e. a 20 minute walk in the heat. I heard that they will provide transportation for the bride and one other person, but that the rest of the wedding party is on there own. Has anyone else heard this?

I do believe they play music at the pools and as I recall, people also bring their small cordless stereos to set up near their group. I cant imagine the resort or other patrons would mind unless the music is very loud and/or offensive. I believe I read in a much earlier post that one couple brought their portable iPod player to a bar and because their group were the only ones in the bar, the bartender gladly cranked up the iPod stereo.

They do play music, but it's understated, tropical background music. I've been to other resorts where they blast loud music and have people announcing games or leading aerobics via a microphone and it's not like that at all. It is a very pleasant atmosphere! Bringing your own music isn't necessary but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem =)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
