Hey neighbor! I'm in Fort Worth too.

Just curious, where is everyone from? I am from Fort Worth, TX.

We haven't decided what we're doing with regards to the dinner. We're both ok with just doing dinner reservations at the restaurant and going super low key.

I like the floating candle idea too - but will they stay lit? or is it the LED lights that will float? I was thinking about getting some tea light candle holders and the little LED "candles" that flicker for decorations, then throwing some shells, starfish, etc. for the tables.

For the ceremony, I am thinking ribbons for the chairs, small chinese lantern for the aisles, and a few medium/large ones on the chuppa w/ the white fabric. And parasols (paper/chinese) - two of those. dang, even that's a lot of crap to haul to Mexico!

how did you guys handle having to hold a certain # of rooms? did you hold less than what you thought would be filled, or more? we're trying to guess the # in order to do the contract on the room block. we could have 10..we could have 30...

Hey Allie,

Its better to hold more rooms then less because although you have to put the deposit down for the seats/rooms that will go towards your cost of your trip if you don't have that many guest. It's not the rooms at the resort you have to worry about its the seats on the plane. We reserved 30 and our travel agent gave us an additional 20 for booking through their travel agency and an additional 10 for booking through air Canada vacations. That gave us 40 but we lucked out because we have 52 confirmed but seats were still open when they booked... That said I just found out today three more guests tried to book and our plane is full, so they have to fly out with another carrier that's more money or on another day that is also more money..so it's better to be safe then sorry... I hope that helps!

well our flights aren't wrapped in - all of our guests are coming from different places, so it wasn't possible to get a flat rate. we're only trying to lock down the resort. the guests will have to pay for airfare in full whenever they decide to book the air (plus it's really high this far out).

HELP!!!

Also I'm starting to read forums from way back and I'm getting stressed out!!!! I picked the Fuentes Gazebo for my ceremony, because I lived the greenery around it...but now I'm thinking I should have picked Gazebo 55...also I choose Tucanes for my private reception but I'm concerned it may be too hot and the health bar might be better????? I need someone to help me that's been there PLEASE!!!!

We held only the amount of rooms that we thought we'd be able to fill. Now that those have filled up, I am telling guests that there is no rooms being held for them, so they need to get on making their reservations ASAP. It's kind of a bummer to have to bug people about it, but I didn't want to get stuck paying for rooms we couldn't fill. My guests are also taking different flights, so everyone is doing their airfare on their own.

We asked close friends and family if they would be attending and added a few extra. We did ours through Destinationweddings.com. She wasw able to adjust rooms as needed. Everyone else that is wanting to go now as it closer, I have told them they are responsible for booking.

I chose the Presidental and no one seems to talk about that one. I am a little worried myself! Is it called something else and I am just not aware?

AllieH-

We had trouble deciding how many rooms to book, so we looked at our master invite list and went through each person and asked ourselves "is this person, without a doubt going to make it to the wedding?". If the answer was yes, we counted that as one room (for couples, we made sure to only do one per couple). We ended up reserving 30 rooms and had to put $6,000 down to hold the rooms. Be aware though that if you do not book at least 75% of the rooms you held, you will be penalized I believe $50 a person, so $100 per couple/room. So, basically you can reduce up to 25% of your total rooms held (for us, it comes out as 7 rooms, so we would only be holding 23 rooms) no later than 10 weeks before your wedding date free of charge. If we dont have at least 23 rooms booked by March 1st, we are charged $50 a person. Unfortunatly, some of our guests we counted on coming cannot attend for various reasons, so we will likely only fill 20 rooms, meaning we will owe $300.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
