El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

As a follow up to my previous post, does anyone have any feedback for the DJ through Lomas Travel or any other DJs? Also, what do most people do for music for ceromony - we are having a short and sweet ceromony on the beach so would rather not spend $ to have live music but do want something. Do you have to rent the ipod for that or can the DJ do dual locations and cover both the ceromony and reception.

Also, we want to do something for an official after party. My fiance has his heart set on heading back to the beach and getting a bonefire and/or fireworks and setup a cooler for beer and a portable ipod for music. Do you think this is possible? Will it be a problem since "private parties" must finish by 11pm (we would start at 11pm)?

We used DJ Doremixx and he was fantastic and still cheaper than the Lomas guys with the vendor fee.

For the ceremony, the hotel provided an ipod station at no additional charge and we provided an ipod with the ceremony songs on it.  The WC handled the move from song to song so no one from the wedding had to worry about it.  I do wish that they would have allowed the songs to play through longer but they pretty much rushed them.  Once people were down the aisle, they moved on to the next song quickly.   I wish I would have told them to play it out.  Needless to say, the ceremony was over very quickly.  Our legal ceremony lasted longer - which was disappointing.

But to answer your question - no add'l fee for the ipod station at the ceremony.

That is so disgusting and terrible that you had to fly on a dirty puke plane! And I thought it was bad we had to stop in Montana to refuel on the way home-2 hour detour with no extra supplies on the plane-so the bathroom reeked! I had written a complaint to Sunwing in December about all our horrible service and issues and still haven't heard back with any explanation or apology.  We had the same problem with the EDR Sunwing Rep calling all my guests to make them book an excursion together.   Is there a place to review Sunwing on BDW? I give them 0 stars!!!

Sorry to see you had issues with Sun Wing as well. We flew from Vancouver with them and I'd never fly with them again. Our rep there was horrible and actually called all my guests and threatened them that if they didn't book something with them they wouldn't have a shuttle back to the airport. We booked all our excursions with Lomas because of the Sun Wing rep and his attitude. I went there and told him if he didn't stop harassing my guests I'd file a complaint but of course he says he never called any of my guests and of course we had a shuttle back to the airport. Turned out one of my guests wasn't on their list on the day we left so we had to pay $25 so they'd let her onto the shuttle and it wasn't even full. For the flight home we got on the plane and someone from the previous flight had gotten sick. They didn't even clean it up and someone from another wedding party put his hand in it and they gave him attitude before finally cleaning it up. Meanwhile we were stuck on a puke smelling plane for almost an hour while another crew slowly made their way off the plane. I'm sure if they didn't chat so much or have to switch street clothes with our cabin staff they would have been off much sooner. Horrible company and horrible staff!

Guess I better save something for my review...LOL

Rivierabride430, I had a bride who shipped her oot bags to the hotel prior to her arrival. Everything was in tact. Give your WC a heads up (how many bottles ect.) and ask her to give you a call or email when it arrives. Ask her to open the box and take a look at everything. Then again, if it is just a case you can ask 6 people to put 2 bottles in their suitcases. Whatever happens, have fun!!

For your ceremony music question, the resort has a complimentry ipod stereo you use and you bring your own ipod, pre loaded with the songs in order, and they will play them for you.  They did a great job on the timing at ours.

As for your after party, we tried to extend our private party past 11pm but the staff would not budge for any amount of cash.  I can understand why though, because there are rooms close to every party location and the sound of the music really travels.  We headed to the disco after 11pm and had a great time there too! I think by 1 or 2am we were all in bed because it was such a long day!
I am pretty sure the only drink service after 11pm is at the disco, beach drink service ends at 5pm once they start setting up for "candlelight dinner on the beach" and we were told no fireworks or bonfires were allowed on the resort, but check with your WC.

I just posted my review of El Dorado Royale and my wedding in the vendor section for El Dorado Royale Casitas.  I'm not sure how to link it.  Its a very long review with a number of pictures.  Please feel free to email me if you have any questions for your upcoming wedding!

I know how much I utilized this site and was always happy to see when some new information came out!

We are expecting 55-70 guests and I am worried that the Salon Dorado might be too small for our reception... any thoughts? We dont want an outdoor reception because I attended my cousins wedding at EDR and she had her reception in La Isla and everyone was dripping wet with sweat! I wore a light gray dress that was dark gray by the end of the night!

when is your wedding?  I'm not sure where Salon Dorado is.  Is that in the main building?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
