El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

So my WC went MIA last Thursday, right after telling me that my reception location was booked and trying to get me to reserve a different location that is no where near what I said I wanted.  I asked her to send me a list of my options so I can make an informed decision based on everything that is available.  No response.  Now I'm freaking out on everything else that I would like to have as it may be booked too!  I asked her months ago about getting things reserved so they wouldn't be booked and no response.

This is so frustrating!!!  I hate doing all of this via email!

Oh no! Well try to remain calm, there ARE a ton of beautiful places to have your reception - we had a difficult choice choosing ours! Sorry if I am missing it but when is your wedding and what was your top choice for the reception? And who is your WC? If I were you I would call Lomas if possible and let them know you want to confirm these things ASAP

I agree, I'm so nervous that things I want/need won't be available unless I have them confirmed NOW - and it's so frustrating trying to coordinate things via e-mail!!!

Yes, trying not to be Bridezilla but just want to nail down the basics and yes, agreed - going through e-mail is tough.  I'm usually fairly patient but every once in awhile!

My wedding is in January and the only reason I had a top choice is from reviews on here; otherwise, I'm open to locations but I'm just having difficulty with the WC providing them.  She piece meals me information and says - what about this location?  I'm like - just send me the entire list of options of available locations for a group my size and I'll go from there.  These are times when the site visit would be nice.   She finally e-mailed me last night and gave me yet one more option and I think it will actually work.  All is well again!  :-)  smile159.gif

When is your wedding?  Have you got everything squared away?  Are you having a DJ or doing the ipod station?

Priscila finally got back to me after about a month of nothing.  She said she had switched computers and was having truble with her email.  Hopefully now communication will go smoothly.

She suggested a schedule of 4pm ceremony, 5-7 cocktails(we're having the donkey too!), 7-11pm dinner-at Tucannes.  Is anyone else doing a schedule like this?  We only have our photographer for 3 hours so I hope it works.  I'm assuming she will start before the ceremony at like 3:30pm?

We are also having to choose our flowers and decor now.  I want to save money and just get 4 flowers chair corsages and 2 hanging flower arrangements for the ceremony gazebo and then move them to the reception as centrepeices.  Is anyone else doing this or has done this?  Wondering if I should rent vases or just wing it!  Maybe use the bridesmaids bouquets too...so many choices, so little money! ;)

I have been working with Priscila as well and when we first started working together, it took her a really long time to return my emails and that got me very frustrated, but we started doing the Live Chat through the Lomas website and that helped out alot!  And that way, I had everything in writing too!

We are getting married in Oct and we are doing a 3 course dinner on the beach the night before the wedding for the rehearsal dinner, then on saturday, we have the ceremony at 5, then cocktail party with hor'dourves from 6-10 at the Tucannes bar.  I have 2 hanging flower arrangements that we are using for the wedding then bringing those to the cocktail party for decoration.  We are also bringing our own vases and votive holders to decorate the tables for friday night, then using them for decoration on saturday night.  We are using some of the vases on saturday and making a "candy bar" rather than doing a wedding cake.  We are trying to watch our pennies as well!

Sounds like your doing something similar to us with the flowers.  I love the candy bar idea(we aren't having a cake either as I have a allergy to wheat)! Do you know if Mexican customs will be a problem at all with the candy or are you buying it in Cancun?

We are bringing most of it down because we are bringing specific candies like Charleston Chews (because we met and lived in charleston), Cadbury (because we live in the UK), little things like that, but i've read about a Walmart in Cancun that people have gotten items from and Im wondering if others have bought from there and what they might have?  It shouldn't be a problem with customs, as long as they know its for a wedding and not to sell, then it should be fine!

Another thing to save money is if you bring your own decorations, they will charge you to have the staff put out the decorations.  They say its more of a "tip", but its a mandatory $5 per person, and we have over 50 people coming, so thats just absurd.  So we are designating some aunts and friends to help decorate (they actually offered).  And with welcome bags, they charge to deliver them to the rooms, so we are going to try and meet people at check in with them, or give them to them when we first see them.

Glad to hear someone else is having issues with Priscila as its extremely frustrating.  I've been trying to get a reception location for over 2 weeks now and definitely starting to freak out and that online chat thing on the website is never online anymore!  I understand its Mexico and they run at a different pace but its ridiculous considering the amount of money they are making off of these weddings.

From what I understand the resort is really busy over the next couple of months with weddings.  I know that one of the weeks in October the resort is at 100% occupancy for the whole week in the caistas and the regular part of the resort. So my guess is that the wedding coordinators have a lot going on and are not trying to purposely ignore anyone.  Hopefully that is all it is.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
