Gran Caribe Real 2011 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone...

I am seriously considering the Gran Caribe Real Cancun.. but I have a few questions regarding the availability of a beach reception ont he date we are thinking of. Does anyone have an email address of the wedding department or a wedding coordinator there? Also, I noticed that you can book the wedding on their site... is that how you go about booking the wedding there? or is there another way to book the wedding there? Any feedback advice, or pics would be truly appreciated! good luck to all of the brides :) <3 msnwink.gif

Hey Ladies,

I was just wondering if anybody that is planning their chapel wedding having a difficult time with their priest and his comprehension of what is needed for the ceremony to be held in Cancun? My priest does not understand how the chapel plans to perform the ceremony because they're are asking our church over here to do all of the leg work. What are your thoughts/concerns/issues? I would love to know!

Thanks

Vanessa

I believe your home catholic church that you are a member of has to approve you being married in the chapel in cancun, which means you still have to do all the steps of the matrimonial sacrament at your home church, then all that paperwork must be sent in to the church in mexico from your church once you and your FI are ready. Its not legal in cancun though, so I plan on legally getting married in my home state, since the legal ceremony in mexico isn't recognized in Texas either. But being a Catholic I still want to be married in a church, and for it to be recognized by the vatican you have to have all the paperwork done. Hope at least some of this helped. woot.gif

Hi dreameyes, what Nadennec said is true. However my priest is still questioning how this will be possible. The chuch in Cancun wants only copies of our baptism certificate, confirmation certificate, copy of our pre-cana course, and the authorization letter from our priest. My priest wanted to know if the church in Cancun will also be doing the "prenuptial investigation" which my priest says is a questionnaire that needs to be completed and they responded that no, my priest has to do it. Isn't it absurd that they are requiring our church to do all of the leg work??? Anybody else have any comments on this?

I am getting married in the Chapel on Friday June 17, 2011 and my reception has been set for the Villas Terrace. I have not looked into the photographers and DJ suggested by the hotel but if any of you have and can provide your reviews that would be great. I'm nervous because when we did the site inspection - it was raining and we did not get a chance to see the Villas Terrace.  I was debating whether I wanted the reception in the beach or in the terrace and we ulitmately decided to go with the Villas Terrace.

I will not be having my guests book directly with hotel as I find the room rate for both Royal and Gran Caribe higher than if they were to book with an agent. Also the resort will hold us liable for those blocked rooms if not enough guests (minimum 10) book their rooms with this resort direclty.   So - the downfall is that they will not block rooms for my guests and now I have to worry about my guest booking early enough to get a room in the premises.

No I have not. My friend's sister just got married in Puerto Vallarta and she had no problem with that matter.   I think the only thing we need to do is go to the pre-cana weekend retreat they offer and get their certificate plus a letter and we should be ok.   We are getting married legally in Chicago before we go to Mexico.     Why is the priest giving you a hard time?

Were you able to discuss with your priest the requirements to marry in Cancun? As you see my above comments, our priest is giving us a difficult time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
