Gran Caribe Real 2011 Brides

Recommended Posts

I just got back last night. We had the best day ever, we had Elizabeth as WC. She was great, we didn,t want to be bothered with anything and just show up. She made everything beautiful, I think she liked that we just let her do her thing, we had about a 10 minute meeting with her on day we got there and then she met me at hair and said she would meet me in my room when it was time. Absolutely loved My hair and make up, loved my flowers, loved the food. It Seemed they really went the extra mile, my iPod was skipping but we didn,t notice bc staff would skip to next song, she did ask if I had another iPod and then got my back up one which then worked, I didn't have enough dance songs but waiters and staff volunteered theirs so we could keep dancing, my family tipped waiters bc they were great. Best day ever!

I had my wedding at the chapel in February of this year and the reception at the JW Marriott.  I also had Diana who was very rude.  My wedding coordinator, Andrea, who I was dealing with over the phone scheduled a meeting with Diana and didn't bother to tell me.  When I was in Cancun, I got a message on my cell phone from Diana who said I was late for my meeting with her.  I didn't even know who she was.  I ran over to the Gran Caribe and apologized and told her I didn't know about this meeting.  She looked at me as if she didn't believe me and them made some comment to me as if she had caught me in my lie.  Very unprofessional.

Gran Caribe also tried charging me $350 each for the videographer and photographer when I was told they qualified as one outside vendor together.  They also tried charging me for the flower vendor because I changed the types of flowers I wanted but still used their vendor.  I straightened most of this with them afterwards but still over paid $200.

The JW Marriott however was wonderful.  My wedding coordinator, Francisco, was very accomodating and professional.  I loved the chapel at Gran Caribe but did not love putting up with Diana and Andrea.

FYI, the JW Marriott also have a chapel if anyone is interested.

I have horrible memories of my wedding because of her!

Hi gals,

I just wanted to chime in.  I'm going to do a more thorough review later, but I wanted to jump in here and put up something quick about our experience with Diana at our wedding a little over a week ago.  She was an absolutely amazing wedding coordinator.  She was super nice and went well above and beyond what we expected.  We went over everything with her before the wedding.  They had everything in her file correct, there were no surprises.  There were no hidden last minute fees.  We gave Diana all of the things that we brought from home for her to hand out, put on the tables, set up for the cocktail hour, etc and she did exactly what we wanted.  We could not have been happier.  It was a perfect wedding.

Has anyone had issues with Marianna as a WC? I started out with Andrea who was absolutely HORRIBLE, she wouldn't return any messages and when she did she never answered any questions. Now I have Marianna who started out great but now I can't get her to respond to messages. My last e-mail I sent took me a month and several phone calls to get a response. Has anyone else been having these types of issues or know a way to get them resolved? My wedding is about 90 days away and I don't even have a price UGHHHHHHH

I have been emailing Marvin at Maya Floral for bridal bouquet prices.  My question is for anyone that used him in the past did you have to pay the outside vendor fee? I'm just debating where to get my bridesmaid bouquets from Gran Caribe or Marvin. I appreciate your feedback.

They lady you talk to months out will not be your on site wedding coordinator. When you are a few weeks away and paid balance in full they will give you the name of wedding coordinator for your wedding day. I was scared When I did not hear back to emails but everything turned out perfect. I saw about 6 other weddings while I was there so I just think they wait til it gets closer before they give you more personalized attention.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
