WHOA that is crazy.....BUT i did experience this in a tiny tiny way........after I submitted all forms, made final paymetn and was transfered to my onsite WC, I got an email from my original WC with a photo of a luxury cake (that i never ordered, since i had a standard one included in my package) and saying that i needed to make the $190 payment asap.........So i immediately emailed her back asking what the heck she was talking about........she was like "this is not your cake" NO you dufus, I sent you a picture of the standard cake i wanted lol..........I have no idea how that happened.......But just send her a spreadsheet of the things you want and tell her to void all those other thing asap.....good luck!

I immediately started calculating and crunching numbers. I'm doing the luxury package which is $3,800, we already requested the DJ which is $850 plus a $400 sunset fee...NO where near $6,000. I emailed my WC, Katia to see what happened and she proceeded to give me a list of things I NEVER ordered. I have yet to submit any of my paperwork so it was impossible. She said I had 3 luxury bouquets, two pedal bags? and two bridal bouquets? All of which I never ordered! She also seemed to think we were doing the classic wedding package? I was super worried my venues were wrong now so I pulled out my contract and it definitely has, Lxury package, Dec 17, 4 PM, GCR Gazebo for ceremony and cocktail and villas terrace for reception. I went ahead and sent her an email back verifying all my information and asking that the other stuff be voided off my package. I understand mix ups happen but this is super frustrating especially being so far away.

Has anyone else gone through anything like this?

How do you order the brochures?

They are beautiful!! I just received them today. However, be aware that they are very large and thick and therefore you will not be able to include them with your invitations unless you want to pay extra for a larger envelope and more postage. I suggest you order the hotel CDs which are the brochures in an electronic version. I am hoping they can send them to me before the end of this week so I can include those in the invitaiton envelopes and send the invitations out already!! Ugh!

Wow, really!? The information on the web and everywhere is that they allow us to arrive 2 days prior to the wedding so IDK why she would say that you HAD to arrive on Tuesday. Yes, I chose from the Mexican Buffet menu and I selected 2 from there, however I haven't informed them of my choices yet. Aww thank you for offering to send me the CDs however they are sending me the CDs today!!! Yay! so excited because it will cost ALOT less to send them with the invitations that way! :) Hopefully you will be able to change your WC because yours doesn't seem very helpful! Speak to Patty-she's the supervisor. I'm sure she'll do something about that :)

Otherwise I would have arrivedon Wednesday as well. Your WC seems so much better than mine, even with letting yall arrive on Wednesday! I asked about the two menu option, and she said she would put in a request, but it still had to be from the set menu, and if I chose something from one of the other menus it was extra. What menu were you able to choose from, the mexican bufffet menu and you just selected items? Mine told me for a mexican menu, I had to do the buffet and it was a minimum of 50 people and still extra charges. We actually had some brochures and cd's already from our travel agent. If you would like, you can send me your address and I'll send you what I have left over (only have cd's left). Its not that many, but I'm not going to do anything with them, so they may as well get used. PM me if you want me to send them to you.

Ugh!! That makes me so mad!! I even just went back and looked at whee she told me that. She said I HAD to arrive on the 8th, bc i was having a religious ceremony, and it required two full business days (the day you arrive didn't count). How do I contact Patty? Is she your WC?

Ego 11 -

Have you decided what to do about your rehearsal?  I'm still trying to figure out what to do with ours.  Was thinking of having a welcome cocktail reception/rehearsal of sorts, but we already have 100+ booked so I'm wary of how much that would cost.

Everyone -

Do you think it would it be weird to just have everyone meet at one of the public for a welcome gathering?  When we visited the GCR last November the lobby bar seems like a nice, large place for people to gather, but I worry it might be "bad taste" to not have some type of private event.  Any thoughts/advice anyone has on this would be great!

Carmresu--

I haven't actually decided. I started researching catamaran tours and thought about taking the guest for a sunset cruise, cocktails, hor' doeuvre's. So far, all the tours have been pretty pricey. I also thought about taking the guests to Savios Bistro, it is located in the hotel zone so it would only be a short walk. It seemed really nice and I read great reviews.I just figure that if I'm going to have to pay to eat at the all-inclusive restaurants in the resort then we may as well go elsewhere and enjoy the scenery!

I'm definitely open to all suggestions, has anyone gone to a really neat restaurant in Cancun that would be appropriate for a rehearsal dinner?!

I like that idea!  I'll look into that restaurant and see if there are others in the area that might be good.  Thanks for the tip!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
