Hi Ladies. Not sure if any of you know that the Gran Caribe resort has made some changes to the Albatros terrace. I found out about a month ago and have change my reception location because of the changes they made. I wanted to share new pics that my WC sent over. They've replaced the bar area with an office building so there's no way to hang anything if you're planning on hanging any lanterns, ribbons, etc.

The standard centerpeices are included free of charge but there is not a table number included.  You would need to bring that.  And yes, they will set up the tables for your.  Also, if you are having multiple entrees, the waitstaff will want you to have something indicated who gets which entree.  We had beef and fish.  For those who ordered fish, we gave a strip of ribbon for them to tie to their water glass.  This worked out great.

We brought our own flowers.  It was a pain but worth it because the hotel is so expensive.  Also, fresh products, including flowers, can't be transported back to the States.  Our package came with a bridal bouquet so we used it as extra decoration.

the resort does provide standard centerpeices.....i will attach a pic below.....it is basically a wooden box thingy with sand, and a luminary candle.....not bad if you ask me......it is super expensive to get actual floral centerpieces from teh resort......if you need info on a local florist with great prices for bouquets, BM bouquets centerpieces etc, please let me know......

We got engaged at the Royal back in June and took some pictures with Funever photos that same day, prior to getting engaged! So we ended up using the pics as our engagement pics.....here is a like to our pics......i think they did a pretty good job......

And is anyone making their own centerpieces or does GCR provide generic centerpieces included in the package? And bridesmaids bouquets by GCR seem expensive. Anyone making their own too? Love BDW.com because everyone here is so helpful! I hope I could be of some use too! My fiance and I just booked our site inspection for this February! I'll try and take a lot of pictures. We also plan on having our engagement photos taken by GCR's photography, FunEver photos, the ones who'll be doing our weddings as well. Hope I'm not disappointed.  cheesy.gif

Thanks everyone for the reply! My WC told me I can only choose ONE menu item for everyone. And my only other option I see is a buffet, which requires a minimum of 50 people and $40 extra for Real guests not included in my package ($70 for non-real guests). What are you all planning for the reception menu?

hmmm ... that is strange ... they let us pick 2.  I think it hard to pick just 1 entree for a group of people.  We picked the fish and the beef.  All they required is that we have visible markers for the wait staff to know who gets which entree.  We  did pay extra to have another side dish with our dinner.

The cake was a waste because everyone was full after dinner and nobody ate any cake.  My parents took the cake back to their room.  BIG MISTAKE.  Ants everywhere!!  Just want to give everyone a heads up ;)

Hi everyone.  I am newly engaged and we are looking at May of 2012 in the chapel.  My only concern is the entrance way to the chapel. I saw that they have you enter through the side stairway, and I'm afraid it's going to make for an akward entrance.  I was wondering if anyone has seen it in person and could comment on this.  Thanks!

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married at The Gran Caribe Real 06/11/11. I reserved the Gazebo for my ceremony and coctail @ 3pm and the Villas Terrace for my reception. If anyone has any pictures of both sites it would be great if you could share them. I've seen a few pics but it always helps to see a few more. So far my WC has been great, her name is Elsa and I have been in contact with her almost every week regarding details and times and locations. If anyone has any feedback on this please let me know. Thanks cheesy.gif

Hi Ladies. Congrats! My fiance and I are going there in February for a site visit and taste testing of their menu for the reception. If you have any questions you'd like me to inquire about, let me know. Ps, I have pictures from other people and from the resort's designated photographer, Funever photos if you'd like me to share them with you. Good luck!

It would be great to get your feedback regarding the taste testing. My wedding is June 11th so I'm getting nervous of all the things we dont know. I didnt get a chance to go there before I booked so everything will be new for me. Have you decided where your ceremony and reception will take place? We booked the Gazebo for the ceremony and the Villas terrace for the reception.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
