Gran Caribe Real 2011 Brides

Recommended Posts

I'm getting married there too on 11/11/11 and am very early in the planning process. I have only booked the wedding chapel so far. I can use any helpful info as well :). Anybody know about their photographers? How is the quality and are the prices worth the services they provide? How is the food for the reception? Any other info would be helpful :)

Hi!

I am strongly considering the Gran Caribe Real for a July 2011 wedding. We have decided on Cancun and will be doing sie visits this summer July. My main concern right now is choosing a resort that is affordable for our guests. Its a toss up between Moon Palace and Gran Caribe Real. Has anyone recieved any group rate qoutes? I reached out to palace resorts and real resorts this afternoon.

Hi

I am also planning a November 2011 wedding at the GCR we haven't booked anything yet because waiting for 2011 prices to be released with the travel agent and also in discussions about weather to book the wedding direct with the hotel or with the TA.

Vanessa C.....We are hoping for the 12th November which will be a Saturday so you will be around at the same time as me :-) Do you have any ideas where you want your reception? are you planning on a private reception or semi-private? think we are going to have a private recpetion hopefully on the villa terrace carn't wait to start booking everything.

Is it still quite warm and nice weather in Cancun in November?

Both Moon Palace and Gran Caribe were at the tops of our lists as well. Those are excellent choices! I know that when we looked at prior years rates (and Nov 2010) of Moon Palace vs. Gran Caribe, it looked like Moon Palace room rates were quite a bit higher on average. Of course, we don't know what specials they will be running in the future, but all in all, it appeared (at least to us) that Moon Palace was a more expensive resort overall. Hope that helps.

Definitely post some pictures of your site visits, we'd all love to see them.

Wow, glad to see so many GCR folks! Who are you all working with at Real Resorts? Our wedding coordinator is Aja, who is very responsive.

Vanessa, I wrote in the other thread too (on November 2011 brides), but I just wanted to say again how exciting it is that we'll be getting married there the same day!

We're currently booked for the wedding in the gazebo and the reception on the roof top terrace. We haven't taken a look at the photographers there because we knew we wanted to hire an outside one, since photos are a big priority for us. We also haven't tasted the reception food, but it all sounds delicious. With the 3 course meal, you have a choice of 1) shrimps with jambalaya rice, 2) red snapper stuffed with seafood & black caviar cream, or 3) beef fillet with mushroom sauce. There's also vegetarian and kid options.

Soon-to-be-McRae: Cancun high temperatures in November are around 83-85 F, and lows are around 70-72 F. You might note that it's the tail end of hurricane season, though they are very rare in November. Still, we're planning on getting travel insurance, just in case.

Funever photos is the company that I have been given for our wedding package. Does anyone know about their work? We are probably going to hire an outside photographer for the wedding but are hoping to use the photography that is included in our package for a different event (welcome party, rehearsal, etc.) Is this even possible? I would hate to "waste" anything included in the package because we are paying for it.

We have been working with Doreen who has been excellent however, i recently recieved an email from Flora saying that she is now dealing with all enquiries so i am guessing we have been changed, i have just read some where also that they are closing the michigan office where all the WC are based how is this going to effect us?

We haven't been able to book yet as in the UK we are waiting for prices for November 2011 to be released so we don't have a confirmed date as of yet but carn't wait to book.

FI would have liked to marry on 11/11/2011 but sounds like they have a few bookings for that date already :-)

What plans have you ladies made so far, have you chosen a colour scheme/theme for your special day?

Vicki xx

Sounds like these resorts are beautiful and the wedding packages seem to be dummy-proof (which is what I am looking for!). I have been looking at the Gran Porto Real resort for a March 2011 wedding. All the Real resorts look lovely, any advice on how you choose the Gran Caribe over any of the other Real resorts? I have never been to that part of Mexico before and am looking for any advice. We want to keep everything as simple as possible, the place needs to be family-friendly as we will have young nieces and nephews along as well.

Hi AnnCam2011.....We have never been to Mexico before but always thought it was a very beautiful country and we always knew we would have a DW, so Mexico seemed inevitable, we chose the Gran Caribe Real because it has all the facilities that we need especially for the children i.e waterpark, kids clubs etc as there will be quite a lot of children with us and havingread the reviews on trip advisor the kids clubs seem quite popular.

What is drawing you to the Gran Porto Real?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
