I flew American and had two flights to get to Jamaica. The first flight from LA to Miami was a pretty big plane and they let me store it in the pilot's closet. Plus they were super nice to us for the whole flight! No upgrade unfortunately as the flight was full. Oh well. The second flight from Miami to Jamaica was a smaller plane so there wasn't a closet, just hangers at the back of first class. But I was able to hang it there no problem. I wasn't too worried about it getting wrinkled because the hotel also steamed and pressed my dress when we arrived. It all worked out!

I am flying United.... we were able to upgrade our tickets to first class....with miles etc....  but before upgrading... I called they advised me to get to the gate early and let them know I had my wedding dress.  There is a closet in first class and they most likely will accomodate!!  Also FYI  Jet Blue doesn't have a closet!  so overhead bin only.... Hope that helps

Also no baggage fees in first class for two checked bags each!  awesome for all your diy projects!!! avoids shipping fees for all of that and favors!

Great tip on the baggage fees - I forgot that first class gets that as well! Although - I"ll probably still have to ship some stuff. The laterns and garden stakes might not make a plane trip ;)

the garden stakes might be a problem...maybe not if you check them....lol bags are 70lbs each on united also!  Another tip from my Aunt was to get a United Chase Card....and rack up miles this year which I did!  and first bag checked for free when checking in with that card!

That's a good idea too! I hesitate to open a cc though - we might try to buy a house in the near future and don't want that on my/our credit report. Something to think about though...thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
