Paradisus Palma Real...Really Worried!

Recommended Posts

I just wired the down payment for my wedding in October 2011 at the PPC.  I am working with Lauren.  After months of planning - I finally chose PPC.  I spoke to Lauren the first time - this week.  I have yet to get a "congratulations", "thanks for choosing Paradisus"...NADA!!  Lauren seems to be very emotionless and not the most helpful.  I am starting to second guess.  Lauren works out of Miami, FL.  Does anyone else work with Lauren?  I have to be honest - I'm nervous.  Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I sent a long email 2 days ago to the Paradisus team and I havenâ€t heard back from them. I am fuming right now! I sent a reminder to them today just asking them to reply to my email.

I canâ€t changed resort now since I already sent my STD ;(

PJKirbs I have worked with Lauren for my April 2011 wedding at PPR.  She has been very responsive.  Yes, I do agree with you that she is not very excited but she has answered all of my questions in a timely fashion.  Lauren usually responds within two days.  I have also been able to reach her by phone.  I think it took a few days after sending my payment for me to receive a confirmation.  In the beginning, I was hoping they had not stole my money.  That was a little nerve racking.

Hi Sparkle! Its good to find someone who also worked with Lauren.  I haven't had trouble reaching her by phone this week, but i was hoping she would be much nicer.  I guess i'm asking for too much, huh?  LOL!  Good thing is...WE are getting married at PPC, girl!  The resort i FAB! April is right around the corner, so i know you are getting excited.  If you don't mind sharing - what wedding package did you choose?  I'm going with the Chill out Chic.  Have you worked with a travel agent during this process?  Any info you can lend would be great.

Hope to hear back from you soon and congrats on your engagement and upcoming nuptials!!  :-)

I worked with Lauren to set up my wedding (happening next May)... it is a very emotionless contract.. when i visited miami around that time, i was able to meet with her and signed all the documents...  thats when i saw more emotions!

I will say she was always on point with her emails... I would send her all of these questions and she would reply within two days with all the questions answered!

I am excited for my planning call early next year! =)

But you should be fine! Have fun planning!

I believe that I will be using the Chill Out Chic package, but I am requesting all white linens.  Lauren said I can change to white linens for no additional charge because they have those at the resort and it does not cost the resort any additional costs.

With regards to travel, I am using a travel agent.  She organized the group rates for our guests and all guests using the group rate contact her to book.  It is sooo great not to have to deal with with that.  The only think to be mindful of when getting a group rate is that you have to guarantee 10 rooms and you have to put a deposit down for each room.  We asked our wedding party and close family if they wanted to book early using the group rate and we reserved 10 rooms for them.  We did it this way so we did not have to wait to get the 10% back at a later date whenever people booked their rooms.  I am not sure if that makes sense....  Let me know if you have any more questions, you can send me a message.

Hi Sparkle - I tried PM'ing you twice and i kept getting error messages.  I don't know what's going on.  I too am doing the Chill out Chic theme, but switching to white linens. What i think i may do to add color is to get chair bows in a color of my choice. It only cost $3 per chair.  How many people are attending your wedding?  My guest list is at 50 people, but that doesn't mean 50 people will actually come! msnwink.gif

I am currently weighing my options between two different travel agencies. One being via this website, but i'm not sure which one i'll choose yet.  I plan to make my decision this week.  I need to send out save the dates before the month is out.

Anyhoo, any other details you can lend about your planning process?  Are you having a DJ, welcome dinner, photographer?  What have you been able to find?  If you feel better sending  a PM to answer these questions, that is perfectly fine.  I would love to share ideas since we seem to be on a similar path.  I am trying not to stress while making plans, but its so hard.  I'm trying to find the best way to make my money go far, but still literally have a "Chill out Chic" wedding.

I hope to hear back from you soon.

TGALLO - Thanks for your post as well and i hope all goes well with your planning call with Lauren!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
