I agree with Diana about making dinner reservations - they are a pain, so try to hammer them out as soon as you can. I think you can make reservations two days in advance. I had better luck making large reservations through the Romance Coordinator and it worked out well. They were a little late (8:45pm) but we were all together. Any number over 16 they charge you - FYI.

I got married at PPR on April 2, 2011 and did not have a problem with the make up or hair. I got mine done in The Reserve by Claudia and she was awesome!

Now that you mention it Diana, I didn't get my breakfast in bed either - but didn't even remember i was supposed to have it until just now. We did get the bubble bath with roses.

I really wouldn't worry about anything. The staff at PPR is amazing and they know what they are doing. A little patience goes a long way and trust that your day will be wonderful.

PC Bride....I had a small group and we ended up having one long rectangular table which worked perfectly for us. I brought battery operated tea lights and made paper bag luminaries which I had decorated (by decorated I mean I punched very large holes in them, they looked really cool!). The luminaries were put on the tables and surrounding the reception area which was on the olympus terrace. That's it really besides the menu cards I also had made and brought down. The decor for the ceremony (we used the chill out chic pkg) was perfect for what we wanted. We brought fans for the guests incase there wasn't a breeze coming off the ocean which of course there was so the kidlets just played with them. We used the resort recommended photographer - Arrecife and our photos turned out so much better than we thought they would - we're very pleased with the results. We didn't use the DJ - we rented a sound system and used an Ipod playlist which was awesome as all our favourite songs played and we danced our faces off.  Everyone had a blast. Some of our guests even asked for a list of songs so that they could use the same playlist at home! Probably the highlight of the evening was the fire dancers we had hired - pretty freaking fantastic!!!

Someone made a comment that they had their makeup and hair done by someone at the reserve spa....I think that if you can get in there for your wedding day, you should be fine. :) I'm VERY picky when it comes to makeup and hair. So no matter who is doing it, i was going to change something!

Thank you ladies for the compliments!  Lesse, you were a very beautiful bride, I love love  love your wedding photos!

My photographer was Chris Van Atta from North Carolina; you can Google him at Chris van atta photography. He was amazing to work with!!!

We brought our own DJ/MC from NYC. Some people thought I was crazy for doing that since we had to pay for his airfare and hotel, but he was one of the best things we did for our wedding. I am Dominican and my new hubby is Irish, I needed a bilingual DJ that understands both cultures. He was great. He had everybody dancing on the dance floor all night long.

I agreed with Lesse, the fire dancers are freaking Fantastic!!! We also hired them for our wedding. In addition to the fire dancers, we also hired a guitar trio for the cocktail hour...they were also GREAT!!!

As for decor, we brought candles, silk flowers for centerpieces and cake, menu cards, fans, programs, crystals, bubbles, I can't remember what else, and I just know it was a lot of stuff.

From the hotel's company: draping, Chinese lattes, robotic and intelliget lights, large vases for centerpieces, chocolate fountain and the hotel actually gave us the smoke machine for free..I thought that was really nice.

OMG. I am so excited that i found this forum.  I have def been stressing this whole destination thing!  I decided to go away to eliminate stress, but being so out of control is making me nuts!  My wedding is Nov-2011.  I chose Naos Beach for the ceremony, and Olympic Terrace for the reception.  I love Gabi but it's out of my budget... so Olympic looked next best in pics (without having to rent the dance floor to do it on the beach).

What do you recommend for the ceremony music?

Did you do the symbolic or the civil ceremony?  Teresa convinced me it makes more sense to do the paperwork at home, but i really cant stand the whole idea of being married before i go... I think i am going to change my mind. i hope i have time.  Any issues with yours?

Where should i do cocktail hr?  I was thinking dominican Trio for cocktail....?!

Dania- i love the sign post you did xx miles to... SO Cute. Can i steal your idea?!?!?

The prices for the centerpieces are outrageous.  When i asked teresa what was available to use at the hotel- she said mostly candles.  Do they have glassware?  Do you recommend i ship or get my own down in luggage?!

I am bringing my own photographer... i am thinking DJ Mannia...

Thank you for all the great info.  I need so much help!!

Anyone else getting married in Nov @ PPR?

Wow these weddings sound amazing!!! I'm so jealous! lol I just worry about what the expense will be for the guests since airefare rates take so long before they go out! I'm not looking to get married until March 2012 but I know I have to make a decision!

  • 1 month later...

I just had my wedding there (jun 25th) and frankly, it was beautiful but such a disaster!   We had so many things go wrong that we ended up with an upgrade to the presidential suite.  I will write a full review soon giving all the positives and all the negatives.  Just so you know, most negatives were NOT with the romance team.  They were amazing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
