we haven't left yet. We leave next thursday. I'll let you know!

quite honestly - we were only charged 16% tax. I'm paying for the balance today actually. I think having the reception at Gabi is more expensive as a whole anyhow as, and correct me if I'm wrong, generally only the people who are staying at the reserve are able to go there.

Dania! Are you excited? We leave on the 14th and are getting married on the 18th. Where is your reception?

Have you had any issues with Diana? We've had some slow return emails in the last few months which has been really frustrating...just wondering what your thoughts were.

We met Diana on our site visit, and I must say, I'm shocked to hear she's not on her game with returning emails.  I think she's so busy concentrating on the wedding for that day, or the coming days, it's hard for her to keep up with everyone.  I have no doubt she will pull off a close to flawless wedding.  Did you guys work with Lauren out of Florida?  Did you get group room rates?  We are still waiting to get them for Feb. 2012.  This is why i'm so nervous about giving them anymore money without knowing what it would cost our guests.  I want to give them as much time as possible to save and plan.  I'll feel better once we get everything figured out....hopefully soon. :) Good luck on your wedding's, it's going to be amazing!!! Please share pictures. :)

HI Neve

I'm glad to hear you feel Diana is on her A-game- that's a little relieving. It's been a little suspect. At the beginning of planning process we actually had another WC and she never returned an email once - we waited 2 weeks....SO...yeah...didn't start off well so I guess we're just extra sensitive to that. We got group rates through our travel agent who did most of the leg work for our guests. everyone had to be paid up for the trip by mid feb. Personally, I wouldn't give them a dime until you have most of your guests confirmed. It might be a different situation for you as it was for us. We only got engaged in December and put our deposit down in Feb to hold the wedding date. I only just paid for the difference yesterday.  Because you've been planning for a year down the road - they may expect payment a little sooner or periodic deposits to keep your spot - the invoice I received actually had 3 different deposit areas. In the paperwork I received when we started the planning process(keeping in mind this is 2011 prices), it mentioned that everything had to be paid up 30 days before the wedding. Clearly they are not that strict on that rule for the 2011 weddings. I've spoken with a bride over facebook several times who got married at PPR in August and she had amazing time, she said everything was great and the WC came through so I've decided not to worry and just go with it.

Since you've already been to the resort, what are your thoughts on the resort itself - we've never been and chose it based on photos and reviews.

I will definitely post pictures - we are getting so excited and very much looking forward to being there.

Hi girls,

Today I am very happy..everything is now finally falling now into place!!! YEAH

I had a very stressful week dealing with everything from my travel agent to dealing with family and the resort but at least, I have been in comunication these last 2 days with Diana and we are both on te same page.  Don't get me wrong, I do really like Diana. She is a great manager and alway returned my emails on time but I guess they have been really busy attending other weddings and I just got nervous since my wedding is now in 8 days.

Lesse,

My ceremony is at Nao beach, cocktail party at the plaza and reception at Apollo ballroom on April 16. we stay at the resort for about 10 days...What about you?

Hi there,

I just got back from our wedding at PPR (4-2-11). It was stunning and everyone was beyond helpful. I need to write my reivew of our wedding and the photographer we used. Diana was very helpful and very busy. Jennifer was my coordinator and she was divine! So happy/helpful/calm and wonderful. I can't say enough great things about the staff and the resort and our wedding day.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. I know the feeling of not being in control bc you depend solely on emails to correspond with the Romance Team there, but they do this day in and day out and have everything under control. Once you are there it seemingly falls into place. And, if you change plans along the way they seemed to be very receptive to that. I was supposed to do welcome bags, and at the last minute decided not to, and we then put all the favors at the reception tables - Jennifer took that in stride and didn't hesitate to do it for me.

Again, if anyone has any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them.

Best,

KGB

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
