Real Flower Bouquets in the DR

Recommended Posts

hug2.gifHi Everyone!

I missed the boat on getting a Real Touch bouquet since we're getting married around the time when most recommended vendors weren't taking new orders when we decided on a DW...soooo, that means I'm getting a real flower bouquet from the resort. It's hard to tell from all the posts of reviews which flowers are real and which ones are fake! (Which is great!) I search through the threads and found lots of ideas, but I just don't know what's an option once I'm there.

The WC sent four photos of example bouquets and they were umm, not what I expected. One looked like the flowers were picked on the side of the road. That sounds bad, but I was saddened to see something like that as an "option". I asked the WC what flowers I could pick from and I don't think she understood my question. I wanted to know things like roses, tulips, orchids, etc.

My question is: Does anyone know what flowers are available in the DR (in May, too!) that would be an option to order from the resort? We don't have any real requests (I wanted peonies, but I know that's not an option if they aren't fake) other than something tropical looking. Our color is a light yellow, so I think almost anything would go!

I figured I'd throw this topic out there and pick all your fabulous brains!! Photos or links are always helpful! hug2.gif

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! (And yes, I am down to 13 days until we leave friday.gif)

Thank you for the link! I saw it somewhere else in a thread and the flowers were ok. It gave me an idea about what the place could do, but I figured they were like any florist shop...they'd order flowers if requested. I know DPC charges a certain amount for ordered flowers, and didn't know what the house rate got you. I'd LOVE a bouquet of orchids, but I'm pretty sure that's not included in my free one.

I sent Sharron a picture of an example bouquet months ago. She said she'd see if the florist could do it, but I never heard back.

How long ago did you request a quote? I was very tempted to order flowers from an online place and see if I could have them delivered, but I couldn't find a retailer that could deliver to the DR. Then I thought about bringing them myself, but figured they'd get taken at customs. :-(

Hey Christine.

Tick tock tick tock! lol. I do remember emailing Deyanira about pink orchids before I actually borrowed my real touch bouquet and she said that WHITE ORCHIDS were something she could do. Let me know if you'd like for me to send you the email chain so you have PROVE. You know how these things could be. haha

Oh that'd be awesome to have!! Thanks, Jenise! :-) You've got my email hehehe...

You wouldn't happen to know how much they charge for petals, do you? We have bubbles for afterwards, but I'd like to order some for the flower girl to throw. I'm afraid they're going to be like $50/bag or something ridiculous. I'll go and pick petals off the flowers around the resort if necessary! LOL...

And tick tock, is right!! Even more so because Saturday is the BD shoot!! *gulp*

I'll send you the email tonight when I get home. Hopefully I still have it in a file because I deleted a lot of them and just starting printing them so I could take them with me. I'll let you know. If not, just shoot her an email now to confirm and while you're at it, ask her about the petals. I myself and just bringing fake petals to have down the isle. (but picking them off the resort's grounds flowers isn't a bad idea either. LOL. j/k)

Saturday huh? Gotta go get that wax. Hehehehe

Got it! Thanks again, Jenise!!

Wax?! I'm done with waxing...laser hair removal now ;-) I just had my third treatment yesterday, so I'm allll set. LOVE IT!!!! Never again will I have to bear that pain and awkwardness...

I'm getting my hair cut and eyebrows waxed this evening, so I'll be all good to go for tomorrow!

Michael's is having their "Friends & Family" sale next week, so I'm thinking if I get really panicky and desperate, I can buy some fake flowers there and either have them make me a bouquet in a hurry, or just take them down with me and incorporate them into whatever they have and hope for the best. I'm sure it'll be fine...I guess I'm just looking for something to worry about at this point since everything is out of my control.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
