Hello all:

My fiance and I are planning a DW in Punta Cana.

I have contacted a few Travel Agents in Calgary...however none of them are very responsive.

Seems like the prices aren't confirmed for January 2011 yet, but I have been reading on this forum that most people have their dates and locations set.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hmm.

Are travel agents the best way to go? Or should I tell my guests to book on a website which seem to have great deals?

Hi There,

I am getting married in Jan 2011 and my travel agent has already got us a quote

Step 1 - Pick a few resorts you are interested in, and email the wedding co-ordinators there and have them tentively reserve the date and time of your choice for your ceremony.

Step 2 - Your travel agent should be able to get your quotes for your group rate at that time of year...mine did. Talk to your travel agent, and ask them to get you quotes for prices surrounding your wedding date. If they say they cant bc prices arent out yet - get another travel agent!

Step 3 - It can take a few days to get the quotes. Once you get a good quote and pick a resort...people can start putting deposits down to save your group rate.

What I did was called around to local travel agencies and asked for someone who specializes in group travel, and its seemed like most agencies had one.

FYI - We got Dreams Punta Cana departing Toronto Jan 8-15 2011, for $1504.00 taxes in including flight, hotel etc...

Good luck! If you have any questions feel free to msg me

Sorry forgot to mention, that I think its best to go with a TA...they can arrange to have your entire group in the same area of the hotel etc...Mine is fantastic and actually talks to my wedding co-ordinator for me! I had the same problem with a first few...but you can ask multiple TA's to get quotes for you all at once, then go with the one who is the most dedicate or gets you the best price!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
