Grand Riviera/Sunset Princess Resort Review & Pics!! Lots of Pics!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Meg, sorry for the delay - I'm not on the forum much anymore!!

I should have a few more pics of the Thai Club, I will try to send you some if you can send me your email addy. It's kind of like little private cabanas, so there is a lot of room but also a lot of private areas too...So I think you get to use it all, I only did the semi-private so I'm not totally sure on how the who private function goes. It's all open to the outside but with thatched roofs, very very beautiful. There is a lot of places to dance at the Thai, but again, you might have to message someone who did the private because I'm not sure how they set it up - the whole restaurant is like an open beach house with really nice wood floors then it leads right to the sand.

The cocktails after the ceremony were done by the "beach waitress" she took everyone's orders, and seemed to keep people happy. I was torn between having the cocktail hour too, I think the difference is that you would have your little area set up and have glasses as opposed to the beach plastic cups.

The centerpieces were done by the resort, the tables looked beautiful - you could put candles, I think there were some but I can't honestly remember - I'll have to check the pics!I

Hope this helps a bit!

Do you have any more pics of the actual Thai Beach Club?  maybe of the inside?  I talked to Sandra and she said that I could bring my own music so I was wondering what the inside looked like -maybe make a make-shift dance area.

Also, you mentioned that some of the waiters came out to provide cocktails after the wedding and before dinner.  My fiancee and I have been going back and forth about purchasing a cocktail hour between the ceremony and the dinner.  I don't want to waste my money but I also like the idea of having cocktails on the beach before sitting down for dinner.  what are your thoughts?

My last question was about centerpieces for the tables.  Did the resort offer you glass vases to use?  are candles allowed?

I look forward to hearing from you,

Meg

WOW! I am getting married there on the same day. What time is your wedding scheduled for? I am having a time with my planning now. Patricia takes quite a while to respond to her emails but i am trying to have patience. Have you found a photographer yet. That is what i am struggling with now. The resorts prices are just through the roof for minimal pictures. Good Luck on your planning i guess i'll see you there.

I havent really done much but book the day. I am confused about wedding packages, do the prices include for your wedding guests? Suzyq76 your pictures are wonderful, is your photographer someone from the resort?huh.gif

Also, where did everyone book there flights and resort at? we are pricing out a few and I didnt know if you had any luck with some.

Thanks so much! I am trying not to stress, but I guess it just comes natural!

How many guest are you having? We originally decided on the private beach ceremony but now everyone on the forum is recommending the Thai, so now i am rethinking. The only thing is we have decided on the dj and dancefloor, im just waiting for the contract so we can sign it. I have to  get going with all the planning it's just hard because Patricia doesn't respond to the emails quickly. Good Luck in your wedding planning and i guess i'll see you there. Our wedding doesn't start until 4:30 pm we decided to go with the free gazebo.

OMG! since your wedding is in Jan 2011, I am sure that you have heard about the horrible explosion that occurred there on Sunday.  I feel so horrible for those people -and one of the people that died was a groom who got married three days before the explosion.  The whole lobby and part of the Platinum rooms are rubble now.

I am also concerned about the rest of the resort and if it is safe now.  I didn't buy Trip Insurance did you?  I don't think that I could move my wedding even if I wanted to because we have so many people going and the prices for booking now are higher than when we first placed our reservation.  My wedding is in Feb 2011 so you will have to let me know how the place looks by that point.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
