Ok....so i went to Thomas Cook who advised they could book the Gran Caribe via Cosmos or First Choice that was until this morning when Cosmos have now pulled all flights to Cancun and there seems to be no insight into if they will be signing them up again the lady in the TA said it could be they have decided to sign contracts with someone else for another destination, so back to booking soley with First Choice as it is cheaper to book direct with First Choice rather than going via Thomas Cook.

Regarding the wedding side of things i emailed the hotel direct and a lovely lady called Doreen emailed me back the same day and said she would love to help me with our wedding plans and gave me lots of information price lists etc but 2012 prices are not available yet so been going off 2011 prices as a guide.

So as it stands at the moment i will have to stick to booking the holiday with first choice and the wedding direct with the Gran Caribe and for now keep an eye on thomas cook/cosmos.

Although i have 2 years nearly to plan my wedding is there anything i should be doing nowhuh.gif i feel in limbo, i dont know where to start for making a list and things what i need to get etc.

One good thing is that you have a nice WC. If you are confident with her it will be fine! I am waiting on Cosmos prices coming out for May! It's a joke they take so long! Caribbean Warehouse said the same 27th/28th May for prices! Not long to wait but when i've been waiting since last august to book it is wearing thin now, lol....

I think the main thing is picking the destination and hotel. Next up for me was dress, then we booked our AHR and got FI's suit and BM dresses. Best thing to do is make a list and then you have something to go back to and check things off and add too :o)

Dress shopping is great fun and a lovely feeling when you find "the one" I tried on quite a few at two different shops all different styles and cuts so knew what suited me or not and believe me i could do it everyday, hee hee :o)

I think 2 years is plenty to plan a DW as really there is not a lot you can do other than buy the things you need to or want to take with you - everything else is in the hands of the WC and they all seem to be really good - at my hotel (im sure its the same for many of the others) - you meet with the WC on your 2nd day and go through any extras you want; ie; extra flowers, buttonholes; dj etc - i suppose it depends whats included in your wedding package - i personally think it you had the money put aside you could plan a DW in 4-6 months easy.

The main part is getting your hotel and wedding booked and AHR if you are having one. Ironically we booked our AHR before the Mexico trip. Then its just a matter of trying on dresses until you find the one you want - FI hasnt got anything sorted on the clothese front yet but hey; hes a man he knows what he wants and will probably get it about 3 weeks before we go - lol!

You'll be just fine - dont you worry

I've just had an email to say that Cosmos are no longer doing holidays to Mexico!!!!! That's why you can't book with them. The email stated it was for operational reasons!! Something we are really concerned about as Cosmos are the only TA that do our hotel! :o(

Oh No! Your heart must be beating over time! Can you not book direct with the hotel? Cause the flights will be easy enough to sort. I hope this all works out for you. Do Cosmos not have a sister company here or one of the other TA advise you? Everything crossed for you. And who said a DW was the easy option!!!!! girl_werewolf.gif

We have been waiting to book since last august..... It's been one thing after another. First I fall out with MIL for not having SIL as bridesmaid then my dad says he's not coming, then our best man drops out. Now FI has had a pay cut and now our hotel is becoming out of our reach! I'm starting to think it wasn't meant to be. Caribbean Warehouse are trying to get the hotel through someone else but i havent heard back yet! :o(

Aww thanks Josie! I'm trying to stay positive. Worst case we will have to change hotels but i REALLY dont want to do that. We have our hearts set on the Palace. The manager at Cosmos passed my details onto Co-op travel who dont do the hotel but have a sister company escape and they get hotels etc through hotels4u.com etc and then they package up the flights and are ATOL protected so at the mo she is trying to get it for us. I also have Caribbean Warehouse trying to get it. They do the same sort of thing. Book it separate but sell it to us as a package. It's the only thing we can do to get our hotel. None of the high street TA's can do it. I've spoken to them all :o(...Fingers x'd someone will be able to help us! xx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
