How was everyones weekends?  I had an OK one, I went to my MOH's in Kingswood, Surrey.  we had a nice, albeit drunken time so I am back on the detox today!  It's only 3 days of hard slog and then it eases up a bit.  While I was there we talked about hen nights.  At this point I had had quite a bit to drink and and she managed to talk me into having it at her house - just a BBQ, a few games and lots of bubbles.  At the time it seemed like a great idea but now I would much rather just a night away in Brighton or something :(  The thing is - she's a bad hermit and getting her to leave the house is like pulling teeth.  I dont know what to do?

I found the coolest frame for my sand ceremony over the weekend!  thought I would show you.  They're quite expensive but so worth it as they are something to keep forever and I think they are lovely.  I contacted the lady on the site as it says only US and Canada and she was so so excited aout the prospect of it going to the UK!  Anyway, here's teh link if you are looking for some cute ideas.  We arent having coloured sand - we ar egoing to sneak some from West witterings and some from my beach in New Zealand and combine NZ and UK sand instead.

Nicyx:  Your post box is awesome - you are so arty farty it meakes me green with envy!!  it looks fab hun.

I think Im gonna go without a cake topper and just have fresh flowers.  If anyone stubles across some nice ones let me know?  I like your nicy but I dont know if I fancy letters?  TOO MUCH TO PICK FROM!

Take care for now!

Mel xxx

Loving the frame, and what a fantastic idea about using NZ & UK sand, i really like that... Makes it seem that little bit more special :-)

It took me AGES to choose a cake topper, i did want a starfish i saw one on ebay and a few other places but to be honest i couldnt justify it to myself to spend £30 on a cake topper, i know its not "that" expensive, but id rather spend the money on something else :-) Definatly too many to pick from...

ARGH..... Yes GOOD LUCK Laurel :-) Looking forward to your review :-)

Thank so much for all your beautiful kind words and support.  It was really sweet and really appreciated.

OMG, thats fantastic :-) Really good.... Im so so pleased for you x

Mel - OMG well done on raising all that dosh!! How nice of them to double it :o)

I love your frame it is perfect. We're not doing the sand thing but if we were i'd love a frame like that :o)

As for your hen, you really should have what YOU want and not be swayed into something that is more convienient for somebody else (trying to put it in a nice way)... a BBQ at your MOH sounds great but if you want a night away at Brighton then you should have it.. maybe just say to her you love the idea of having it at her's but you also had your heart set on something else too. Maybe do both and give her the option to come or not? Sorry dont mean to sound mean about it. I know its difficult bringing these things up but it's your HEN have it YOUR way :o)

Say you see it on here and thought it was something you'd also like to do.. I dont know how many times i've mentioned you guys to ppl.. i'm like " on the wedding forum this and the girl on the wedding site that" ha ha... x

How did you get on at the docs?

I agree.. Do what you want on you hen... definatly :-) & i was thinking the same... Do both, but definatly do the Brighton thing as if its what you want you may regret it!!

Haha, Im alwyas talking about you ladies on here.... ppl think im mad as ive never met any of you but i just say... in a wierd way its like i know you all and you all UNDERSTAND and want to talk weddings without getting bored... I love my virtual friends, you all what keep me sane through this whole process :-)

Well ladies i have finally decided on my Hen Night, we are off to London on 18th June. The weekend will consist of Cocktail masterclass 3-5pm then out for a meal, then we get all glammed up for Carwarsh (70,80, 90's night) that's untill 7am (dont think i'll last till then), overnight in 4*hotel then use the hotel spa sunday morning. shots.gif

My OH asked our son to be his bestman on friday, he is over the moon and has already stated working on his speech (bless him). So now i can ask my nephew to be page boy.

Glad you like the Post Box :-) The more i look at it the more i love it x

Your hen sounds brilliant.... cocktail class will be fab :-) Ooooo, the spa will be just what the doctor ordered on the sunday :-) x

its about 4 weeks on friday to my hen... whoo!!

I had a fab fab fab weekend.... We have been to Glasgow for a couple of days, we went to a gig last night :-) It was awesome.....

@ christmas we got vouchers of work so we used them at lastminute.com (or something like that) to book the hotel, we booked "the Hilton" OMG it was so posh, i could swear we were getting funny looks walking through the foyer... ESPECIALLY after we went out shopping and when we got back to hotel, there was this guys and woman with all their shopping bags in the lobby they had Zara, House Of frazer, Pandora, and lots more, named bags, then we walk through they lobby with my brown paper "primark" bags... LOL :-)

Hi everyone - Nicy your post  box looks wonderful peps on here are soooo creative xxxxx

Michelle - Hope your back gets better soon xxxxx God I think i'm a bit thick but are your jabs for mexico?  If so I didn't know you had to have jabs!!! My kids and mum are gonna freak!!!!!! My mum has a huge fear of needles!!!

I don't know if it is me (considering I have got about 8 months to go) but I seem to be acting a bit crazy.  Getting really stressed over silly things that usually don't bother me taking quite a lot of things personally... I have spoken to a close friend about this and she seems to think that it has a lot to do with the wedding as the argument between my future SIL still hasn't been resolved she didn't even send Calvin a card for his birthday just wished him Happy Birthday on facebook!!! I feel as if this is my fault cos I decided to go to Mexico, plus she isn't speaking to her mother my future MIL as she has stuck up for us..... And I think it is all getting to me... :-(  I can't talk to Calvin about it cos I don't really want to upset him... I just feel guilty over this.... Has anyone else felt like this or is it just me having a little bit of melt down and I'll be ok in a couple of days...:-(((((((( . We are going to London on Monday to see Phantom of the Opera so hopefully a couple of days away will chill me out and I can get back to normal.... xxxxxx  Thanx x

Oh thank you. I actually feel really ill today. I feel so sick and cannot eat. I'm weak and a bit of a wreck to be honest. I haven't felt this rough in a long time. I wonder if the sickness is anything to do with the jabs yest or the pills i got off the doc but its not very nice..

Yes the jabs are for Mexico. Our doc said we have to have Tetnus, Hep A and Tythoid. (for adults the Hep A and Tythoid is conbined but not for the infants they have to have separate jabs) Best to check with your doc if you are up to date with yours. We have really bad luck so we weren't taking any chances... anyone else who had the jabs feel sick the next day?? I have a really bad fear of sick i cannot bear it and have palpatations and panic if i feel i'm gonna be sick. I know it sounds stupid but i just can't take sick.. whimp i know. For someone that had 2 kids with no pain relief at all i'm a total wreck when it comes to throwing up. I get myself in a right state :o(

I think you are feeling completely normal. Dont worry yourself over it. Its not your fault. Your SIL is very selfish and childish. Dont punish yourself for her bad behaviour. Your having the wedding of your dreams and nobody should make you feel bad or give you a guilt trip over it. What is her aim? What is she getting out of this upset? She is a silly woman. Let her get on with it. Its nice your MIL is standing up for you, just proves even more SIL is in the wrong. I feel much the same i fell out with MIL over a yr ago and nothing has changed we still dont talk. She's made no attempt to sort out her bad doing so sod her. I'm letting her get on with it. She's shot herself in the foot cos she's had nothing to do with the wedding and knows little about it and doesn't see her grandaugher as much as she used to but she only has herself to blame. I am over the guilt trip but i totally understand where you are coming from. Its the pure thought that your wedding plans have caused this upset. But its not because they are wrong it's because others dont agree with them. SOD em!!

Jo said something that helped me when i felt a bit rubbish about things.... she said.. everything is highlighted now because of the wedding and big event coming up. After the wedding things will settle down and not be magnified how they are now and that advise is keeping me going... hope i've been some help to you...xx

Enjoy your time away from it all. It will do you good to get away :o)

Hi Rach

I've been to some wedding fairs and to be honest they are all pretty much the same and catered for weddings over here. I've never been to one that has anything to do with DW's. Sorry not much help

This is a great site for ideas and support. It has been a wedding lifeline to many of us girls on here. Somewhere you can always come and talk 'wedding' and nobody ever gets bored of it :o)

Ooo what's your dress like? Sensatori is a lush hotel it was on our short list and a few of the girls on this thread are going there so lots of help for you :o)

I have been to one or two wedding fayres aswel, like Michelle, and none that really cater for DW's they all seem to be aimed at UK weddings... They are just good to pick up 1 or 2 ideas :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
