Oh man!  I've missed so much!

Lyndsey - I hope everything is OK at home, sending my thoughts your way.

Roo - WOOOP WOOOPPPP - its your big day soon!  All your little details must be coming together nicely and your planning review is fab, I just loved it.

Michelle - I love your OOT organza bags.  I think they are just perfect.  Do they look great in the flesh?

Nicy - How's the headaches chicken?  I read back and saw what you had written and have my fingers crossed that your not still getting them.  I suffer bad migraines and its usually brought on by stress .......

Herbie76 -  regarding booking - I am so bewilded to all this I dont know either!  I have been in contact with Moon Palace directly so Im guessing I will leave it with guests to decide how they will do it.  I think?  I really dont understand!

Catherine - I'm a Moon Palace bride too!  We are going for the 6th August so it would be awesome to swap notes maybe?

Janapana - I am so so jealous of your hot weather!  we have had yukky grey rain for the last 3 days and its hard to believe its August!

Yesterday I nearly flipped my lid.  It isnt funny but when I first signed up and I saw the posts from you girls saying how awful your in laws were I really counted my blessings.  WELL.  It seems that the word wedding brings the bitch out in family members and I was so fed up yesterday that I rang the registry office in Gretna Green.  I said to Chris - I'v ehad enough, its a long weekend, we can drive up there and make a weekend of it just the two of us.  As  it turns out you have to apply 15 days before :(

I guess in a way, I would have bene doing it in spite and I may have had regrets of not having what I dreamed of.  But it was a bit exciting I have to admit and I just really fancied popping to Monsoon and getting a dress (I HATE SHOPPING) and being done with it.  Anyway, as it turns out, my parents who live in Tokyo made an emergency call after being SOS'd by Chris and de-escalated the situation.  My poor dad couldnt stop laughing as he didnt know what to say!

Vicki - sorry about the job front. That is really bad they say they will get back to you and they dont. Finger's x'd something comes up soon

kiwimel - yes they are nice in the flesh. Very flimsy and see through (hence the tissue paper) but they are nice i'm pleased with them. They are lightweight to travel, really cheap and they do them in loads of colours.. :o)

Thanks girls for all of your comments on the best way to book, I think i'm going to book through the TA but contact the hotel direct to secure the date and build up a relationship with the WC...god it feels like forever before i can book.

Vicki (McRae) - when are you able to book the wedding?

I just wanted to ask your advice/opinions on a few things.

  1. Would you advise booking the wedding package through the TA or direct with the hotel?  I had always thought best to book with the TA as then your covered for things like volcanic ash but what with all your problems getting the dates and trying to get hold of a WC, now i'm not so sure.
  2. Did you do a group booking with all your guests or just give them the hotel details and have them book themselves?  I'm thinking it might be too stressful trying to arrange everybody onto one booking regardless of how good the group discount might be.
  3. Are you buying your Grooms a present and if so what?

1.) I booked through TA.... I wanted piece of mind that if anything goes wrong i can get all money back and wedding, or if anything changes due to volcano etc the wedding date /money wont be lost etc etc.

I think it vary's by the sounds if it resort to resort how quick the WC is at getting back, mine responed within 24 hours all times i have emailed...

2.) We didnt do a group booking, gave guests details they booked of their own accord and we gave them our wedding reference so the TA linked them to our wedding.

3.) Yes... unsure what yet but am thinking something like this

but am still looking...... I wanted to do a "for your eyes only" shoot but like Michelle im not sure i have the confidence? maybe if i loose more weight!!! x

OOOOOooooooo.... Just had to let you girls know.... Im very fortunate in the MIL department (unlike some of you sad.gif ) a few moments ago she popped in to say hello as we havent seen her for a while with one thing and another. Anyhow she was asking how we were getting on with the wedding etc. We told her we paid it off and now the hard part was saving again for all the bits and bobs like rings, dress, kilt etc... and she said "well, we'll be giving you some money to help... nearer the time"

We dont know how much as we didnt like to ask but what a lovely thing to say  love.gif

FI said "you dont have to do that" to which her reply was "I know we dont BUT we want to and we helped pay for your sisters reception so were going to help you two out aswel"

Were so so made up, we never expected it at all so it will be a lovely help with everything, You never know it may help pay for a AHR, which we'd love (but dont know if we can afford yet)  but i need to speculate less as we dont know how much yet... But how lovely woot.gif

Charmaine...I have spoke to First Choice and they keep giving me different dates as to when i can book, some tell me middle of September then others say will have to wait till November this year!!!!! i am really hoping for the September because if we have to wait till November that only gives us a year!!!

I have spoke to the WC in resort and she has told me that we only have to be in Mexico for 2 full business days before we can get married, is this right? what info does everyone else have on this? I thought we would have to be there between 3 and 5 days due to blood tests etc I am hoping this is correct as i really want to be married in the first week and chill the 2nd :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
