Iâ€m a new bride-to-be and found this site around a month ago and cannot keep off it. Well after 11 years together my partner and I have decided to tie the knot. We want to have the perfect day so have decided to give ourselves and our family plenty of time so have decided on a June 2014 Wedding. (I know it is 2 years away but Iâ€m really excited). woot.gif

We have been reading lots of posts, checking out hundreds of websites and looked in nearly every brochure and because we want our niece and nephews (aged 5-11) and between 20-30 guests we have decided on an Azul Sensatori Wedding and El Dorado Seaside Suites honeymoon.

I do however have hundreds of questions and would appreciate any advice that previous brides or future brides can give. I have telephoned Thomson on a few occasions for some advice but they keep telling me it is too early and telling me what is written in the brochures.BangHead.gif

I feel a little silly asking these questions so early but I want to have all questions answered so I can go and book as soon as I can and have no queries. Well here we go:

Is it better to book through a UK travel agent or direct through the hotel?

Has anyone used the Gold wedding package, is it worth the money or better to do things separately?

I have read in a few posts that the hotel charges for guests who attend the wedding from other hotels but have not seen this on their website or in any brochures, could someone please advise.

Again thank you all in advance.

Sarah

Hello Sarah!

Congratulation!! :)

I have booked the holiday with Virgin Holidays and booked the wedding directly throught the Hotel.

I have found it so much easier doing it this way.

Im getting married married at Dreams Rivera Cancun Resort & Spa and all of my guests are staying at a different resort. So they will have to purchase a wedding day pass on the day of the wedding. Its $55 each at Dreams

Happy Planning

1. We've been to Riviera Maya 4 times in the last 3 years and to the hotel where we'd like to get married twice, so we know most things and would be happy to organize our wedding directly with the hotel (i.e. book the holiday with Thomson/First Choice, but do all the wedding arranging with the wedding planner from the hotel). Is this possible?

2. How long does it take to organize everything? We'd be starting now and would like to get married in October 2012 (yes, you read that correctly - 2012). Is this feasible? I'm not worried about getting the dress, invites, etc. as I know that's doable, just worried about all the legal formalities, etc.

3. What kind of documents would we need?

That's it for now, but I'm bound to have more questions. Thank you.

PS. Yes, we want a quick, quiet (secret), small wedding (13 people).

Hi there!!

First of all, Congratulations! I am getting married in the Azul Sensatori, in September this year! Ive pretty much planned everything so anything you want to know, feel free to ask! Theres also an Azul Sensatori group on here which is amazing! Most of the ladies on there are american but its still great for information!

We booked with Thomson and have no problems so far! We have booked for 32 people and so far they have been on the ball, we didnt get as much discount as we would have liked though.

I would say have a look on the Sensatori group and the Lomas website before you decide on a package. I went with the silver package when we booked but didnt know I would need so many extras. We didnt want to have the meal included in the package cause it wasnt completely private so we opted for what they call a Private Banquet. The prices arent that bad plus you get a choice of different locations around the hotel (with the one included, it was in the buffet restaurant).

Yes if you have guests coming that are not staying in the hotel, the hotel will charge a day pass, I think its around $75.

If you have any other questions, please ask away :)

Hi Foreighnbride,

I have booked the holiday with Thomas Cook and then the wedding direct with the hotel.  The communication I have had with the hotel has been great.

All I've been told we need for documents is our passports.

Good luck.

Hi Sarah

I got married at Sensatori last August, brilliant choice. We booked a 18mths in advance through Thomsons and got a small discount, make sure you ask for one as you are spending alot of money. We had 23 of us go aged 3-72 and everyone loved it!

We had booked to have a beach wedding with the gold package but changed our mind to the pearl package and added the extras that we reallywanted this worked out cheaper for us. When we got there we then changed our minds and had a rooftop wedding mainly for the privacy as expect lots of spectators when marrying on the beach. They do charge for guests who are not staying on the resort.

Have a look at the above website as that is who they book things through.

Are you on facebook? If so your more than welcome to look at my photos - Michelle Herbert.

Any questions dont hesitate to ask x

Hi Nickie

Congratulations, I thought we were a long time as getting married after 16 years together.

Had conflicting reports as First Choice told us that birth certificates, marriage and divorce papers were needed and would have to be translated

The hotel told us that we need passports and visitor travel cards for the bride, groom and 4 witnesses however both of us are divorced so waiting on hearing back if divorce papers are needed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
