Hi ladies,

This is my first visit to this forum, it's so exciting to see other Mexico brides! We are getting married at the Secrets Maroma in May, it's really coming around quick now!

I am looking for some advice on getting birth certificates translated and legalised prior to flying out. We have been quoted £429 for the entire service, including getting the certificates legalised with the UK FCO. This seemed high to me, but I have no idea what price to expect!

Can anyone advise what they paid and how they went about this?

Thanks! :-)

Hi Girls

Hope you are all ok. I have not been on for ages!!! Well 13 weeks before our wedding, we  decided to change our wedding hotel! eeeeek!!!! Never thought I would do this! Instead of the Sensatori we have decided to change to the Gran Bahia Principe. We decided to do this as my family did not know if they were going to come to the sensatori, due to money and I think the thought of my divorced parents being together round the pool, was worrying me! At the Principe it is a huge resort and if people want to go to the other end of the resort to get away they can. I feel so much better and pleased it is working out cheaper for my parents to pay for their flight. I'm back into wedding mode....only 13 weeks ...better get cracking!!

Only thing is we have our rings already inscribed with the 21st April and we have to wait for the new hotel to get back to us. To let us know if this is available...Fingers crossed!

Hi Rachel,

We are from UK, also Co Durham (Newton Aycliffe) and are getting married at Gran Bahia Principe Tulum on the 20th April.  How exciting!! :) We booked with Thomas Cook and are having a bit of confusion about what documents we need to take with us.  We were just wondering who you booked with and what you have been advised??

Hi Jo

WOW! We live at Bishop LOL!!! We booked through Thompsons and were told we needed our tourist card (which we get when we are over there) Our birth certificates (full copy) I have just got mine from the registry office yesterday. Birth certificates dont need to be translated or legalised.

If you have been married before there are different stuff that needs to be done. What have thomas cook told you?

Rach, its a small world!!!! lol

How crazy, and our wedding dates are 1 day different (Hopefully if you get your date) :)

Thanks for your reply, TC have told us we need to get our full Birth Certs translated into spanish, then have them certified by a spanish speaking solicitor and then they have to be sent to the legalisation office in Milton Keynes to have the legalised. We are then supposed to carry them with us. Then you have the blood test when we get there.

Jazmin our wedding co-ordinator who works for the hotel has told us we just need our passports and our green tourist cards and then the blood test. Jazmin has never mentioned Birt certs.

We haven't been married before and we are not adopted. We are totally stressed about the whole thing! :(

Hows things going for you?

I know, your right it is such a small world!... We flying away all them miles away to get married and live 10 mins away lol!..... Are you staying at Akumal? I have not heard of all of that what TC are telling you to do. Thompsons told me just the full birth cert and blood tests whilst we are there. The travel agent I spoke to said she has just been married there and  needed full birth certificate (english), tourist cards and the blood tests which is a legal requirement of Mexico before you marry. I carnt understand why TC are telling that, surely it is the same for everyone...no matter which travel agents you have booked through. I am not sure whether witnesses need birth certificates, im going to ring the weddings dept tomorrow and find out. Im not very well organised and only just ordered my bridesmaid's dress yesterday. It comes on the 2nd April...cutting it fine! Hopefully it wont need alterations. Got so much to do, need to order all favours, table decorations etc.

What date do you fly? We fly on the 16th from Manchester

Hi ladies

I just thought Iâ€d pop in and say hello, most of you will not know who I am but Iâ€m the OP that created this thread and Iâ€m so pleased to see that there are still so many UK brides on here.

The ones that remember me will know that I am no longer getting married in Mexico, we changed it back to the UK because of important family members not being able to fly to Mexico and I have to say it was the best decision for us.  Our wedding date is now fast approaching, Saturday 30th June 2012 and I am so excited, everything is coming together nicely, because Mexico was such a huge part of our lives for the best part of a year we couldnâ€t leave it out of the wedding planning so we have booked our honeymoon at The Royal in Cancun for 2 weeks from 2nd – 16th July.

Anyway I just wanted to wish you all good luck and to tell you to enjoy every second of the planning and the wedding day.

Congratulations Carrieb, canâ€t believe that youâ€re married now, loved your review.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
