Hi girls,

Can't believe it's taken me this long to post on here. I have been reading this thread since late last year but never posted as I felt I would be butting in on a conversation (silly I know) lol !!!

We get married on the 17th May 2011 at The Moon Palace Cancun, and I am WAY behind all of you in planning.

Just wondered if I could ask you what you all did for translations of birth certificates ? I called the translation company that Thomas Cook gave me and they quoted me £489.20 for translation and to be legalized. Is this the norm ? I was a bit shocked at the price but have no one to compare with.

I would love to hear what you did about this.

Thanks

Jo x

hiya hun that is the price i got quoted from them to, ive since been told by my wedding co ordiantor we dont need to have all that done. (so just check) but also check that theres not a place that do it for you as we got quoted 150-200 to have translations done with stamps. but then you have to send them of yourself. i think thos with thomas cook you send your birth certificate off an they do everything for you like sending it to embassy they recieve it bk an check b4 sending it back to you so less stress i suppose. x x

All the hotels are different though so i would check. I have it confirmed on email that we dont need to take them. Our WC said we would only need them if the bride had been married before. One of the girls on my hotel forum said that just this week we defo dont need them. All we need is our passports and the visa card they give you at the airport. I'm glad as its just another expence. Have you looked on the forgein commonwealth website? That is were my friend sent hers to get legalised, not sure about the translation though.

I have looked on the Commonwealth website, but they only legalize once they have been translated. At the moment it costs £28 per certificate. The price from the translation company includes this so when you minus that cost from the total their fees for translation are quite steep.

Will see if I can get prices from elsewhere just incase we do need them x

Oh ladies btw remember I posted on here the other week all the craziness that was happening with my resort banning outside photographers and us trying to make sure we are on the "special list" so we can still have our outside photographer at our wedding??? Well now they posted on their facebook page and emailed few girls on the other forum that are getting married there, that it was "confusion" and that if couple wants to hire non-resort photographer they are more than welcome to do so; and in addition they even decided to remove a "day pass" payment for them too!!!! WTF???!!! So we went through that stress for nothing....:/ It all sounds weired to me, but hey as long as our guy is there to take our pictures it doesn't matter lol :D

Hope everyone's planing is going very well :))

xoxo

Hopefully i will get pix, and i will post :-) x Sat 26th, im so excited x

Great news on photog :-) As you say though as long as he is there taking your pix!!! But it does seem strange!!! xx

Hi Jo, welcome to the site!!!!....butting in on a conversation....lol!!  We had to get just Richards birth certificate translated & his name change deed poll certificate as he changed his surname 4 years ago.  First Choice quoted us £430 but I did it myself & paid in total £130.  All I did was send the docments to the foreign office to be legalised & then to a translation company 'Wolfestone Translations'  to translate them.....really easy process.  Let me know if you have to get any done & I am happy to help :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
