Thanks ladies i love the shoes for the bridesmaids i have spent ages deliberating over them lol

I am having a bit of a crisis i am looking for waistcoats for the men but i want an ivory with turquoise in it not sure where to get it from though, any ideas ladies?

Also having a drama with who is giving me away, my dad passed when i was 15 and i only have 1 brother who is in the RAF, he will be in Afghanistan when we get married so wont be able to attend the wedding :( the other options are i have an older sister who has said she will give me away, my brother in law (sisters husband) or my nephew (sisters son, although this will seem a bit weird i think) if my sister gives me away what will she wear???? normally it would be whatever the groom wears but obviously its not possible lol

Any help appreciated ladies

I have the same problem! My dad isnt alive either, my cousin (whos is like my brother to me) is going to Afgan next week and will be away until after the wedding he is the only other person I would have asked :( I've decided to walk on my own despite my mum offering to walk down with me.

6 months and 20 days until we leave, cant believe im now in the 6 months time area!! woo hoo!! Im finding it sooo hard to think of a present for MIL & MOB. My FI's mum is old fashioned wears alot of expensive gold jewelery (already purchased a frame for our wedding pic so thats a no) my mum is the total opposite and modern would probably like jewelery but then do the gifts have to be similar?

My friend keeps warning me to get on with the DIY stuff as she said the time will fly by now and then i'll be rushing but I cant get motivated with wedding stuff at the moment... Baring in mind I purchased my fans around feb time and have only done 3 LOL

I know this isnt the same as you girls as im lucky enough to still have my dad here, but when i thought they werent coming to the wedding then i had it in my head i would walk "down the aisle" myself... Even if we had lots and lots of guests and i had a choise, i would have gone myself as to me i dont think it would have felt right having someone else give me away!!!! xox Difficult position to be in!!!

Kerry - no still dont know what to do. With the 2night minimum rule for outside vendors i think it will work out alot more expensive to get an outside photographer and we want a video. We hardly get anything with our wedding package either :o(... it is annoying as we wont get that day back and i REALLY want nice photos sad.gif

Girls i felt like that when my dad decided he wasn't coming. Luckily i have a gorgeous son that has stepped in to give me away. Failing that i prob would of had my mum or walked on my own. Hope you work it out. x

We are really lucky with regards to the hotel we dont need to pay for an overnight stay or even a day pass to bring in an outside photographer.  I am contacting quite a few at the moment. Some of the prices I think are absolutely ridiculous as you will only have a few photos out on display.  In addition we have FIs dad coming who is a prof photographer but we didnt want it to be a busmans holiday for him!!

I know what you mean about doing wedding things Kerry - I am the same just dont really seem to find the time or the incentive to do anything.  We need a lesson from Michelle and Nicy - lol!!  It has suddenly hit me today that 4 months today we leave for Mexico and I still havent shed the 10lb I said it would in August.  Have resorted to getting the faithful ww points calculator out!!

I would say you need to crack on if you have 6 months left. It seems like a long time, but that is when it starts to fly by. My trouble i have is i have just over 2 weeks to go and i am rather swiftly running out of money. I do have most things, but just wish that i had started buying earlier so i have more money left for the odd bits and bobs that i see and like.

With regards to someone giving you away, in my opinion i would go with someone from your immediate family. The idea of your BIL giving you away is nice if you get on well, but hes not an original part of your family if you see what i mean. I think go with your sister, she can just wear something really pretty, doesnt matter what really but you choose it. OR go with your nephew, but only if hes at the right age, dont want a littlen walking you down the aisle lol

Michelle I would be exactly the same & want to pack now!!!!  My mum is buying our cases for us as a christmas present & I know as of January they will remain open in the spare room with bits being put in daily!!  Everytime I go on the Maggie site to have a look at my dress your dress is the one on their homepage so comes straight up, just have to say to you again it is amazing, so beautiful!!

On the giving away issue I agree with Susan, I would have my nephew as he is your actual family & male,  I am actually having my mum & dad.  I know thats not traditional but just felt that my mum hasn't had much to do as such as its all done online & abroad so it would give her a role on the day as well.  She was actually chuffed to pieces when I asked her!!

Am now really panicking about all this VAT rise as would much rather get everything before it goes up but money is a little tight at mo!! Have already warned everyone no one is getting a christmas present unless it is to do with wedding...lol....I am going to get most people the vests/t shirts with diamontes on e.g bridesmaid, mother of bride, witness etc...sound really tight but its all starting to mount up now!!  God I can remember when it was 2 years away now we are 8 months...eeeekk scaaaaaaaaaaaaryyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it does all add up very quickly. This is my stess with the photo's. We have an ok deal with the onsite photographer which gives us photos printed, on CD and a DVD but just dont like their style. All the outside ones seem alot dearer and you only get a CD of photos and prob have to wait a month or so for those!! What to do????????? It's driving me nuts!!!!! I dont mind printing my own but would be nice to have them to come home with and show at our AHR.......

It's my birthday is in a couple of weeks and i've told FI not to buy me a pressie but to put the money towards the wedding. To be honest i dont really need/want anything so i'd rather he put the deposit on my wedding ring or something. At least it would be another cross off the list. He has the day off on my birthday and we are viewing a school for Scarlett so maybe we can go shopping after. I can't wait to have my ring. FI has seen his and will get his mum to get it with 30% off so i told him he should do that now before the VAT increase after xmas.

As for our list i think all we need  to get is....

shoes for FI and Harrison

Scarlett's flower girl dress and shoes

something for my hair

invitations for our AHR

Book DJ or singer for AHR

the girls favors

Decide on cake (that my sister is making)

Actually i think i'm doing really well and still have 8 months and 10 days to go.... (pat on the back for me) ha ha xx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
