Nicy that is lovely!! what a nice MIL you have! The conversation was similar to what i had with my mum. I'm so used to doing things on my own so it was so nice when she popped by with a cheque. Plus dad giving us some money! It's so generous of them. I'm made up for you! That is great. It really all does help :o)  lovely news xx

What an ace MIL you have nicy.  And your mum too Michelle. My mum has paid for the holiday and my dress(es), and has said "our pockets are not closed, but try and manage the rest yourselves!!!!"

We had future in laws out for a week last week and OH changed up their ££´s into €, the english money is going straight into my account for wedding stuff.... should be there later today for a spot more shopping!

I´m off to the post office to sort out the bank transfer for the importation tax on my invitations, hopefully it´s not more than the actual invites themselves, that is one expensive lesson learned, will not be ordering anything from the states again in a hurry!

my replacement t-shirt arrived from vistaprint yesterday, fits properly, all free.... good customer service or what!

It is a much cooler 33º today, although to be fair it´s still only 9.30am....

Have a nice day ladies!

Nicy - Love Love the journal idea for the groom am definitely getting one of those!!!! & how lovely of your MIL.......mine is a complete witch!!  However my FIL has said the same as your MIL.....he said we will help pay towards wedding & our hotel but like you we didn't want to ask how much so will wait & see, 'every little helps!!' eh, my family are super!!  Mum is paying for all the outfits & Dad has said he will pick up the bill in resort, blood tests, dj, flowers, hair, make up & photos!!  So all we really have to pay is our holiday, am so so lucky ( he did joke though, are you sure you don't want to just go to the Isle of Wight & I'll pay for your holiday as well!!) hahahaha

Just had a thought on the Wedding Dress Box......what if something spills on it?  I know thats drastic but as its cardboard....imagine a macdonalds coke at the airport dropped on the box??!!  I might get one & see how robust they are for £18 its worth a look?

Oooh & one more thing on the underwear front.....my bridal shop has said that they can sew in a bra type thing to the dress which enhances the boobs for £25 so you don't need to worry about straps....might do that & then buy some other wedding underwear for wedding night....nudge nudge wink wink!! ;)

Oh Nicy!  How nice is your MIL!  That is really sweet and a real godsend I am sure.

My dad emailed me today saying the Gretna Green idea was great!  LOL.  He said it would save loads of money and they would give it to us for a house deposit instead - way to throw a spanner in the works pops!  Anyway, I think we will carry on and keep it very low key and have our fingers crossed we can do it ourselves that way we could still use the moeny for a deposit.  Its my 3 year anniversary today so we are going to treat ourselves to dinner out together and probably discuss it then.

I know you girls have all been really helpful about the booking thing but Im still not 100% sure I understand?  So you go to flight Centre (example) and tell them what you want and then contact the hotel as well yes?  Does this mean you still get all the advantages that go with having a group booking?  At Moon Palace they throw in all these free events etc depending on how many people stay and for how long.  I have bene going through the hotel directly but I dont want our guests to have to do it direct through the hotel in USD$.  I just dont know what to do!  Think I might get in contact with a TA this morning and see what they say?

Waybuloo - Love the dress boxes !  I will definitely be getting one of those for when I get home.

Waybuloo- love the personalised box, where I brought my dress they sell them (not personalised though) for £25 was going to get one for my dress and one to put all the bridesmaid dresses in as I have 4  big bridesmaids and one little one (my daughter).

As for MIL my also is a waste of space. We offered to pay for all our parents to come with us for a week and if they want to stay for extra week then they pay that themselves. My parents are coming for the 2 weeks to help us out with the kids while we sort things out (I have a son of 10 and daughter of 2). My FIL is joining us for the second week, but my MIL emailed my OH to let him know she couldn't afford to go  and would just come to the ATR (arrrh it's all inclusive she didnt have to pay for anything!!) I've not seen her since but OH went out for dinner with her and she didnt mention the wedding once.

Michelle i love your oot bags, might have to nab that idea!  Whilst out shopping yesterday I saw coconut lipbalm in next £1 per pot I thought i could print some stickers to personalise them.

Has anyone got the phone number for the wedding department at The Sensatori Resort?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
