Lyndsey....Really sorry to hear about your grandad hun ((((Big Hugs))))

Michelle...Great news about getting the right time that you wanted for your wedding, and also that your mum wants to help out thats really lovely.

Charmaine...I am booking direct with First Choice for both holiday and wedding for the extra assurance if anything goes wrong prior to or on the day itself. We have decided to just do our own booking because i don't want to have to be responsible for chasing the payments so just going to ask for a reference number that people can use to book with so that we are grouped together. As a present for FI i am planning on having a boudoir bride photo shoot done with For Your Eyes Only which will be given to him on the morning of the wedding ;-)

Josie...Looks like you had a fab weekend of fun your pics are great :-)

I am not doing OOT bags but have decided to do little gift bags for my bridesmaids with a pashmina, lip gloss etc i am now looking for some really nice gift bags that i could use and i saw a link on here a few weeks ago but carnt find it now does anyone have any ideas looking for some nice gift nags or tote bags .

Not looking good on the job front because they haven't got back to me after the trial i did with the company :-( i am totally gutted i phoned them today and they said they would phone back and haven't done, so back to the drawing board for me unfortunatly :-(

Herbie there used to be a Berkertex brides (think that's what it was called) in Bluewater but it's no longer there. The only bridal store there now is Oriental Pearl. They could do with one actually.

I forgot to say i also have personalised pens for the OOT bags and i'm putting a welcome letter in which i have nearly finished :o)... i only have small gift bags so cant get to carried away with things. Plus i didn't want them to turn into an expensive gift.

Girls who are doing luggage tags... when are you planning on giving them out?

Also those that are having there own music at the ceremony. How are you doing this? Ipod? CD? x

I´m giving out the luggage tags and thermal mugs with the invitations, hopefully in october. There´s no way i´ll be able to lug everything to mexico, so when i next come back to uk i´m going to box it all up nicely and post/hand it out. (save a fortune on postage from spain too..... not tight, honestly!)

the music.... going to take a cd for the actual ceremony part, then just take an ipod and speakers for the dinner bit.

omg i am baking today, 37º in the shade..... roll on september.

Charmaine - I booked it all through my TA but as soon as I booked & requested wedding date I then called the hotel in Mexico straight away to see if they had the date I was asking available.  They said yes so I went straight back into my TA & told them it was available so could they phone & hold it TODAY!!  They must've thought 'God we've got a right one here' Bridezilla eat your heart out!! but it paid off as didn't have to wait the standard 8 weeks & got the date & time we wanted without panicking that it would be gone!! hahaha

For the guests, basically I took all the different combinations ie 2 adults, 2 adults 2 kids etc to 4 different TA's got the best price & then told all my guests the research I had done.  This mean't they then all booked with Cooperative Travel (first choice & thomson).  Bit of news on this as well I have a cooperative membership card (like sainsburys nectar card) & although all my guests are responsible for their own payment, I am the lead name on the booking.  It works out that in December 2011 I will get nearly £600 in coop vouchers!!!!!!!!  woo hoo...thats next Christmas sorted!!

I just wanted to ask your advice/opinions on a few things.

  1. Would you advise booking the wedding package through the TA or direct with the hotel?  I had always thought best to book with the TA as then your covered for things like volcanic ash but what with all your problems getting the dates and trying to get hold of a WC, now i'm not so sure.
  2. Did you do a group booking with all your guests or just give them the hotel details and have them book themselves?  I'm thinking it might be too stressful trying to arrange everybody onto one booking regardless of how good the group discount might be.
  3. Are you buying your Grooms a present and if so what?

Sorry for multiple posts but forgot....How lovely is that Michelle your mum giving you £1000!!!! & your right we don't need the MIL's when we have our own super mums!!  I was thinking the same thing the other day that I don't want to leave mum out of organising but so much is done online there isn't really a lot of actual shopping to do....not like a wedding here you would go & look at cakes & flowers, venues etc  I'm thinking I might organise a weekend of shopping up London maybe book a hotel near westfields to get all our holiday clothes  (well lets face it I only have an outfit for one day sorted so far!!hahahaha)

37 degrees.. wish it was like that over hear. Our freak weather in the southeast is bright sunshine one minute then heavy down pours the next i'm in and out like a yoyo with the washing on the line! ha ha... extra exercise i suppose lol...

£600 bloody hell that is brilliant!!!

I was going to do the photos for FI's present but i haven't got the confidence to do it. I always buy him jewellery and watches so it might be a day out or something. Brands Hatch racing maybe.. i will think more about it after xmas...

I haven't made my OOT bags up yet but i got pink ones from Islepac..http://www.islepac.co.uk/gift-packaging/organza-tote-bags.html

I have pink and brown tissue paper to go in them and i'm making up a gift tag to tie on with ribbon. When i've done one i will post pix.. I will prob get the hotel to put them in the rooms. We all arrive together so can't have them there for when they arrive. It will be either that or at the welcome dinner on the second night.

Mum n Dad have been great (well apart from Dad not coming of course).. I love my family to bits...

A day shopping with your mum sounds lovely. I love shopping!!

I booked the wedding package direct with the hotel because thomson´s couldn´t have been any less helpful on the phone, and took about 3 weeks to get back to me by email. and at least this way i have my confirmation email from the WC herself. It´s only a 250$ deposit i´d lose if we cancelled, so i can live with that. As for the holiday, we booked over the phone with Thomsons, took the ta´s name and number and passed it on to all our friends and family, we´ve got one group booking ref, and individual ones as part of it, so everyone is responsible for their own payments, but the ta knows we´re all a big group and the more that add on the bigger the disccount. most people have gone through the ta, but a few have done it themselves cos it´s worked out cheaper for them....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
