Hi Ladies

I always check the reviews for the Gran Caribe on trip advisor, partciularly this month as this is the time of year that we will be out there getting married. Normally the reviews are consistently good, but the last week or so people have complained about a group of 250 college kids turning up for the week and basically taking over the hotel, doing what kids do.....drinking, partying, running up and down the halls, being excessively loud....normally i wouldn't have a problem with this but i don't want it on my wedding week. People had actually requested to be moved from the hotel to one of their sister hotels, because it was that bad.

I'm not sure if this is something that happens every year around this time or if it was just a one off. I know spring break is end of March/April and summer break is end of May/June, but i was not aware of huge groups going to Cancun in July.

Now I don't know what I should do, stay with the hotel or look for an alternative, which I don't want to do because I want that hotel and I can't change the month because my daughter will be sitting AS Level exams around May/June and I don't want to take her out of college before hand.

What would you suggest??

i always take these reviews with a pinch of salt. not many people take the time out to write good reviews, but want to spread the world of things that upset them. im sure even if it is busy you will be in the party spirit anyway! don't even worry about it!

hey Yeya99! welcome to London!! where you moving too? i live out of london but work in Shoreditch, which is just behind Liverpool street station. London is huge, but has a big expat community. have you looked into googling for american expats in london? i bet you'll find a whole network! and you'll make friends quickly too! will you be working here? what kind of job? good luck!

i am a LOT calmer today than yesterday, thank goodness!

Mrs Price, i think it was me who told you that!!!! you should be hearing from her soon i'd think, let me know when you do! Me and Nicy were just discussing this cos the old wc has left and there's a new one, so you'll be able to fill us in!

The clock is ticking louise!

Talking of contact with WC's, mine has been here and there. Sometimes she's really good and replies the next day, and then others i can't get a reply for love nor money. i've emailed her three times the last 10 days and had NO reply at all! i am not overly worried about it, cause i know it can all be sorted out there, but i wouldn't mind if she did come back to me!!

on the plus side, i emailed the spa at the resort to book in my manicure and pedicure and my hair trial and for my hair to be done on the day, they've come back and confirmed the times and told all of us that we all have $300 complimentary to spend at the spa! WAHOOO! so we've all booked things, manicures and facials and massages! it's going to rock!

i had a lovely evening last night with a friend and we didn't talk about the wedding, and i SOOOO needed that! i think that's why i'm calmer today :)

So are you having a long distance relationship at the moment? If so I bet you cannot wait to be with your FI full time!

Janapana - just wondering if you've heard from the WC yet at the Tequila? I'm dying to contact her, but seem to remember that you said on another post that you did and she said she will contact you about 6wks before (I think that was you - but may be wrong!)
I've done almost everything I can so far for the actual wedding day, just got bits for the AHR to finish - so really want to start organising the food, photographer, cake etc - all the big exciting things!

Also is anyone else worrying about whether or not they are still going to love their dress when they see it again! I last tried mine on in Feb and got my first fitting booked for mid August and now I'm thinking - " Will I still like it!" I'm sure I will, but think it may be a bit plain! Eeeek!!!
Re - your dress this was a huge fear of mine as I ordered mine in Feb this year and tried it on again only a few weeks ago and i did love it just as much I did the first time - as I am really bad when it comes to remember what things look like visually after I havent seen them for some time. But just remember you chose your dress in the first place because it was 'the one' - you WILL fall in love with it all over again xx

It might be worth asking the question to the lots of US ladies on the forum as they would have a much better idea. I went to Mexico in May a few years ago (the first 2 weeks) and when we were out there I remember our rep saying you will be glad you are not here for the last week in May/ beg June as all the college students cause chaos - this is in the larger resorts though that are in the centre of Cancun or PDC as for them its like our college kids going to Magaluf / Benidorm etc etc - but I am sure you will be fine in July. But as someone who has worked in customer service for many years - people only tend to complain as feel more passionately about it not when they have a positive experience - so I would take these comments with a pinch of salt - but to put your mind at rest, just ask the US ladies xx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
