November 2010 Brides - Riviera Maya

Recommended Posts

Small world!!

We looked into a lot of photographers in Mexico. We ended up going with one from home just because we wanted to have our engagement session in NYC. Have you looked at Sascha Gluck or Samuel Luna? There's also another one we reached out to named Alejandro Aguirre, Fine Art Studio (WE loved their work and prices!).

Nora Bohanon also has great prices even though she's based out of Chicago. Check her out! Also check out Ron Soliman who does destination weddings. He's based in the US but works with you on budget.

We are getting married at the GPR on Nov 26, 2010... I have so much to do still! We have about 21 people coming but there may be a few more. Bought my dress and should be getting it at the beginning of Oct. Still need to buy our rings, bridesmaids and groomsmen attire, finish OOT bags.... eeeek!

I haven't even booked a photographer yet, just can't decide! We want to bring a photog from our hometown but it's just not in the budget. I'm having a hard time picking one in Mexico without meeting them first.

3 more months from today FI and I will be tying the knot!! I just got chills writing that. OMG Can't wait!!! I am getting really nervous about the timing though so I'm going to write a little timeline for myself and amke sure I have enough time to get everything done.

Guys check out our engagement session. We just got a few pictures back last week! We live in CT but very close to NYC. I couldn't wait to do our shoot in NYC. If you can please comment on our photographers blog as we will get print credits with more comments :)

I live in Branford CT :) lots of us from the Northeast here

Ughhh this Mexicana thing has me totally stressed out to. Some of my guests who booked through Expedia got calls today letting them know that even though Mexicana says they are honoring all their flights so far they have been canceling them when you arrive at the airport.

They told our guests that Expedia tried to get refunds back from Mexicana but they are refusing to. So they told my guests to dispute it with their credit card companies. I don't even know what to do. Even if we all got our money back flights are three times more than what we paid in Jan/Feb last year. I have 85 guests who are all flying Mexicana.

I called my TA and I am just praying for good news. I don't understand how its not Mexicana's responsibility to transfer you to another plane and it should be at no cost to us.

Ya I feel sick to. This is def not the stress any of us need so close to our dates. Lets pray they get bailed out. I am trying to stay calm but with all my guests calling me its making the situation far worse.

I will let you guys know what advice my TA offers.

I really hope Mexicana fixes everything that's going on. It makes NO sense that they can't figure out a way to transfer you to another flight from like a sister company or something. And they should definitely have to pay you back if they completely cancelled your flight. At least we still have a few months to go, imagine if you were getting married in 2 weeks and flying through them! How frustrating...

I'm sure they'll have it figured out soon. They'll have to. But I'd still keep looking on kayak.com for cheap flights. I know Delta was having RT flights for around $300 from CA the other day. Which is a GREAT deal. Usually the best prices are released Mon-Wed. Good luck girls!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
