Puerto Vallarta is as safe as ever, if not more so. Have them read news articles. It would be like saying I'm not coming to the USA to visit because Los Angeles has gangs. Mexico is a HUGE country. Puerto Vallarta is safe. They have a great police presence and because tourism is so much a part of their income, they take special care of tourists.

I'm glad you found Banderas News because I was going to suggest that you send people there in general - it's local news, not sugar-coated (well, except for people selling themselves or their products wink.gif so it will give people a better feel for what's going on around Vallarta .... for example, you will see in today's issue that the Vallarta area was just selected to host the Sailing National Cup for the 2011 Pan American Games.  And, as the season gets into full swing, you will see more events and things like that pop up which should probably help to calm fears about what is going on in Vallarta :).  www.banderasnews.com (and, no, I am not affiliated with them in any way, do not even know anyone who works there wink.gifwink.gif.....

Hello ladies, I just came back from having my wedding in Puerto Vallarta and I wanted to tell you that its completely safe!!

I had 26 guests with me and we ALL loved PV. We stayed in a wnderful hotel where we were all pampered and we ventured into old town

(malecon area) for dinner several times and to shop for souvenirs and we had no problems. No signs of crime or violence anywhere.

In fact, everyone was completely nice to us, and we even had a friend who forgot his wallet in a taxi and theguy actually came back to return it to him! Paradise. I loved it! And my wedding went smoothly. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I was just there 10 days, got home 2 weeks ago. I've been to PV about 8-9 times (and other "resort" towns in mexico over 15 times) and never once felt unsafe. We ride the public buses, wander thru the streets/shops of downtown and the romantic zone with our kids at night... Etc.

Honestly I can't believe anyone would question the safety of PV. As with anywhere else, including right here in the US, it's all about choices, being aware, and planning ahead.

If you would vacation in New York, Las Vegas, etc, you would be smart, so be smart anywhere else too, kwim? Don't mean to be harsh, it's just how I feel.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
