Just Married REVIEW - GRAN CARIBE & LE MERIDIEN - w/pics

Simba, thank YOU for answering my questions! I greatly appreciate all of your help. Another question, what time was your ceremony at the chapel? Your pictures look great and I am afraid that since I am having mine at 4p, the lighting might not be as great since I believe the average sunset in February in Cancun is around 5:30p. Thanks again. I'll definitely check out the aisle runner too!

My ceremony was a 3pm in April.  You might actually get the nice sunset which I didn't have because it was too early.  I'm not really sure though.. you should ask your coordinator.  Good luck - it will be perfect!

I just realized I gave you the wrong website for the aisle runner. The correct site is http://www.customizedweddingcreations.com/

Hi,

I am looking into having a destination wedding in May 2012 and am looking into the Chapel at the Gran Caribe.  I read somewhere that you can walk through the kids club to have a longer walk to the chapel.  Did they show you that option?  I am really hoping not to have to walk down the staircase to the right of the chapel.  That is really my only reservation.

That was my really big fight with them during the planning process.  They offered walking through the kids area as a suggestion when I told them I didn't want to walk down the stairs.  But then later on they said they strongly adviced against the kids area because you could get wet and they REFUSED to turn off the water games for those 5 minutes I was walking through.

This was a really, really big deal for me.  One option I suggested to them was to let me rent out one of the rooms that opens up to the chapel but I wasn't a hotel guest so I would've had to book it for that one day and it was like $250.  I was so frustrated with how unaccomodating they were being that I ultimately decided I wasn't going to give them my $250 on top of all the other money I was already spending - I thought that as a common courtesy they should've just offered that room on their own.

Long story short, my day-of coordinator was WAYYYYYYY more accomodating than the other girl I had been dealing with over the months and she gave me the room behind the tennis courts for like 20 minutes before the ceremony.  I was able to put my dress on in there and walk right out through the balcony door into the walkway that leads to the chapel.  It worked out perfectly.

If you're going to be a hotel guest, you should request one of those ground floor rooms behind the tennis courts that have balcony's which open up to the walkway leading to the chapel.   If you request it far enough in advance, and you're a guest anyway, they should be able to accomodate it.  Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
