Booked Cabo Surf for April 5, 2008!!

Recommended Posts

Hi girls, we just got back from Cabo last night and I have to admit my head is spinning! First off, we stayed at the Sheraton which is gorgeous and very nice. We were originally thinking of getting married there but found it to be too big for what we were looking for. I hired Maye as our coordinator. Right off the bat, I felt at ease and she was very easy to talk to. We got along great. I had originally had all these other big resorts planned to go look at but we decided to just have her take us to Cabo Surf because I had the feeling that was going to be the place.

It's a bit hard to find because the driveway is small and comes up quick but once you drive into the grounds you feel like you are in a quaint, beautiful beach villa. We loved it right away! Also, Armando was so sweet and since Maye is their coordinator, they are pretty flexible with what you want. The only down side was that they are pretty much booked until July or August so I'm so glad we got there when we did! Basically we booked the whole hotel for our wedding which is going to be so fun because it will be all our family and friends staying together. As you can tell, I am thrilled to have it there.

Now for some questions to other brides who got married there. I am worried a little because there is only that one restaraunt for breakfast, lunch and dinner. While the food is great, I'm worried people will get tired of it and it will get pricey. I was thinking of going to Costco and getting some muffins, bagels and lots of snacks so people can come into our room and grab things. Does anyone else have experieince with this? Also, we are going to do a welcome party with just appetizers and beers. I thought it would be neat to have the mariachis on this night. Friday we wanted to take everyone into San Lucas for a "rehearsal dinner" so I need to figure out transportaion for everyone. We have no idea how many people we'll have. Definitely 50 but not more than 100. It's so hard to not know!

Anyways, I plan to ge the STD's out by end of August. It's so nice to have a place and a date and I'm so happy I have this forum to go to!!

Congrats!!! I wanted to try and get that place but they didn't have our date and since my FI is set on an AI to stay we wouldn't be booking rooms. I wish we would have thought of that place earlier in our planning process because i just love the idea of all of us (friends and family) staying together and renting the whole place out...that's awesome!!! :)

Congrats! You will love it there.

I think people will be fine eating at the restaurant, but having lots of snacks is a good idea too. I personally would recommend that you tell guests to rent cars. It's so much easier to get around when you can drive yourself. You can explore all kinds of different things with a cheapy little rental car.

I think a welcome dinner off-site is a great idea, and if you are worried about transportation you could always have it in San Jose because it's a lot closer.

Armando is really great and super chill. I would recommend that you keep a written record of everything you agree to, because it will be helpful just in case there is anymiscommunication or forgetfulness as you go through the process. The hotel really is a wonderful place - perfect for a wedding.

Cabo surf is a great location, Cain loved the look of the place the second I took him there. But like you the one worry I had was having all our food at the same place all the time. We ended up going with the Sheraton. But Cabo surf was almost the one we picked.

Yay, another Cabo Surf bride! Congrats! It feels so good to book the date. Snacks from Costco sound good. We're going to have our rehearsal dinner and a farewell brunch off site, but people can always rent a car and go into town if they get tired of the restaurant, I guess.

I'm so glad to read your reaction to the hotel... I haven't actually visited yet, I just booked it based on reviews, this board, and the idea of having the hotel to ourselves, so it's nice to hear your glowing review!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
