Or, does anyone know if you can host a private lunch reception? Our wedding is at 11:00am so if we had to pay for a private dinner reception, we'd rather just pay for a private lunch reception if possible.
PLEASE HELP ME!!
The Semi Private (free) reception is only for 50 people or less. If you have more than 50 people you will have to do a private reception. I think you can pay $1000 flat rate to rent out the Plantation restaurant for 4 hours or $500 to rent it out for 2 hours and again it would be private. Or you could choose the buffet option, the most expensive is $55/pp and includes alcohol, there is a $35 option as well. Sadly, there is no such thing as a lunch reception. All receptions are dinner receptions and begin at 6:30. You can search through the Jamaica forum and find a ton of information on what brides have done while waiting for their reception.

Thanks so much! I really don't understand why they don't do a lunch reception. Oh, and if I decide to have a coctail hour and hor d'oeuvres after the ceremony, is this served at the ceremony location? or is coctail hour somewhere else? Thanks

Wow---looks like you'll have a huge crowd with you! Wwhat a great turn out! We just got home yesterday from ROR and had 40 guests......we had planned to have a welcome/meet n greet...but we changed our mind-only because it was so much more planning to be involved. And honestly-Im so happy we didnt go ahead. I found that we, my husband and I hardly got a second of alone time...we had the king jacuzzi suite and used the jacuzzi out on the balcony once....we had a rehersal dinner-and only had interest of 18 out of the 40 guests........they were all there for vacay too-I think they wanted to do their own thing for the most part-we all went on excursions together, and I thinkt hat was complicated enough to plan.....we spent so much time trying to plan those....and dinners with our families at night-Im glad we didnt try to organize this type of event too-its too much going and coming in my opinion......the whole 7days were planned out.....and I wish they hadnt been like that.....anyways-my advice now would be to meet in front of the stage for the entertainment at night-have a few of you in the group pull all the tables and chairs together-we done this a few times.....theres 3 bars surrounding that area...another night we had 2 guests bring guitars and we all met on the beach-stayed til 3am...and had drinks delivered from the sports bar.....it was a more casual thing.....as big as ror is-its also small...everyone always gathered in the same area at night.....you could just plan to meet the first night there in front of the stage....I even found at our wedding dinner none of us got to mix enough-we were all sitting and eating-it was the reception where the funw as had-same with every other night watching the entertainment...

Hey All, We're getting married Sept. 3rd at 4 pm and I want to do a beach reception. However, when I emailed my contact they said it was only available for the more luxury resorts. Has anyone done the beach reception and what did it end up costing them? We're planning on having about 40 people at our wedding.

Thanks!

Mrs Stobbe,

That's not true. ROR does beach receptions. I've seen a few pics on here and I just viewed a very very nice one on you tube from ROR. It was on the beach draped w/a tent made of white scarf like fabric, it was absolutely beautiful! I've also seen people who just have their dinner table set up on the beach in the sand. Look throughout you tube and google as well as this forum and you'll find it. I know at ROR a private beach reception is going to cost about $55/pp this includes a bbq buffet which has been described as the best food overall at the ROR and an open bar, so totally worth it. I myself am doing a private pool side reception at that price.

  • 2 years later...

Please, is anyone able to tell me if the private dinner fee of 55$/person is for the ENTIRE wedding group...or for those numbers above and beyond the number of guests included in your wedding package? For example, if you are paying for the "Caprice" package, in which 40 people are included for the semi-private dinner, do you still have to pay $55/person for those 40? Or only for the number of people above 40?  I know it's upgrading to go to a private dinner, but really, if they have you already paying a set up/rental fee for the private venue, why wouldn't the first 40 be included - it's the same meal they would be getting if the dinner were semi-private!!
ANY help would be greatly appreciated...I feel like with a party of 80+ the cost is going to get out of hand...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
