My ROR Planning Thread (SUPER LONG…LOTS OF PICS)

Okay Ladies sooo Iâ€m leaving in exactly 8 weeks!!! I know I know im pretty early BUT the next weeks until departure look like hell for work with ER calls and conferences… my next free weekend doesnâ€t look like until the weekend before we leave… and thatâ€s my bachelorette party in AC soooo anyways…. I think Iâ€m pretty much DONE with the planning... except for the ceremony wording and program. Iâ€d like to start by saying Thank you ladies for inspiring me with these amazing ideas as it was from you ladies who I got every idea from!

Leading up to a Destination Wedding… in Jamaica!...

Okay so my FI is a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and Iâ€m a physician assistant who works with one of the busiest neurosurgeons in DE… so a traditional wedding was def out of the picture because there is no way we would have time to actually plan a traditional (with that being said we were completely naïve to what actually goes into planning a destination wedding…) I mean Iâ€m still praying FI's gonna make it to our wedding… Anyways…. Originally we wanted to do somewhere different like Costa Rica and then my family (whose from Jamaica) decided to give there input…. And soo we decided Jamaica! The original planning turned out to be a disaster with destinationwedding.com so I have no cute invitations or save the dates…. I didnâ€t find the site until I was at the end of my rope… but it turned out to be Just in time!!!! If I didnâ€t find this site… we would def be at JP court.

The Dress- So when I FINALLY found the dress I wanted… I of course did NOT bring a camera and then when I went to try it on when it came in to the boutique, my camera was dead! AND SURPRISINGLY I donâ€t have to do ANY alterations! YAYYYYY!!!!!! BUT I wonâ€t have an actual picture until the wedding day cuz i'm afraid I wont be able to put it back in the bag as neet as the lady did.

The shoes- by rampage bought at macys on sale for $40! The picture isnâ€t that great because theres clear paper around it. But they made me the perfect height so I didnâ€t have to alter the dress.

Back up shoes- so my FI is convinced that Iâ€m gonna sink in the sand for some reason and has me paranoid so I got back up platform flip flops at sears for $15!!

My Marine will of course be wearing his amazing dress blues

I have my maid of honor and bridesmaids are wearing a soft yellow Alfred angelo dress

The flowers! Sooo thanks to this site…. I discovered silk floers!!!! And decided it would be wayyy more worth it to spend money on these rather than real ones thatâ€ll day. I think the decision depends on the type of girl you are… im the type of girl who would choose edible arrangements with chocolate covered strawberries over a dozen red roses any day!!!

I decided to go with Shavonâ€s Wedding Silks because I heard really good things about her and she was very quick to respond and easy to work with. Total cost was under 500 and I got 4 corsages, bouts, and hair flowers too.

My bouquet will be a combination of these two pics:

Since my maid of honor and and bridesmaids will all be wearing the same dress. I thought she should have a different bouquet. This will be hers:

PRE TRAVEL STUFF- so thanks to this site… I also discovered vistaprint! Which has been my second obsession next to this forum. This is what I plan on sending out to my guests probably next week- travel brochure, luggage tags, and a packing list. I made the brochure directly in vistaprint because it was free if I didnâ€t upload anything so unfortunately I donâ€t have a template. I saved it in vistaprint so if neone knows how I can save it into another file outside of vistaprint Iâ€d be more than happy to attach it!

So Luggage tags I just printed on those name badge labels with the red border from staples and then stuck them to luggage tags that I got from Michaels and put packing tape over it so it doesnâ€t get ruined

The OOT bags!!! I must admit these were the most fun to put together! Okay so originally I bought these bags from walmart on sale for $3 and I was gonna use them for the bags until I realized how huge they were and how ridiculous they looked because I didnâ€t have big stuff to fill them so this what I decided to instead…

Welcome books!- these were not as fun… it took a while… I got photo albums for a dollar from Michaels thanks to someone elses great idea… BUT they were 24 pages!! And at first I was gonna try not to fill it all or do every other but it didnâ€t look right so I filled all 24 pages with a bunch of info that probably no one will read lol. Iâ€m attaching the complete template

For the ceremony I ordered bubbles and fans from wrapwithus.com and I got yellow chair sashes (not in the picture) I left the rest of the décor up to my momâ€s creativity so I wonâ€t know what she decides to pack until we get down there. (She does have a bunch of pretty yellow lilies from Michaels though)

OH yea I also did a budoir session for the FI which was awesome! Iâ€m not gonna post any pics online just in case someone on here turns out to be one of my patients… that would be REALLY SUPER awkward lol but I would def recommend Natalie in Bear, DE she was really great and pics turned out great!

And thatâ€s about it, Iâ€ll post all the small details I missed on my review…. My suitcases full of this stuff are packed lol now the REAL fun part begins shopping for a new wardrobe and swim suits… Victoria secrets here I come!!! Oh yea and I still need to figure out the whole ceremony/vows thing lol

Any suggestions or more ideas are absolutely appreciated!

Thanks ladies! You are my inspiration! :)

on a side note: i'm trying to upload my wedding books... it's in powerpoint but it says invalid? I'm not computer savy soo if neone is interested i can send it or you can tell me how!

Travel Mugs- I got blank orange mugs from discountmugs.com and then I printed a bunch of labels from vistaprint on a large windows decal sticker. It turned out better than I thought… again I did this directly in vistaprint so I donâ€t have the template it was actually really tedious and probably wouldnâ€t have gotten done if I didnâ€t have an anxious 12yr old cousin who LOVES to help me! wink.gif she copied and pasted each picture and each text box over and over to make it. She really did a great job! I also wanna thank the site yet again because I stole the idea from someone on here THANK YOU!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
