Hi girls!

I am leaving tomorrow to the Riviera Maya for some R&R and of course some resort inspections. Does anybody have any suggestions of what I should be asking or looking for?

Here is the list of resorts I am visiting:

1. Barcelo Maya Palace

2. Occidental Grand Xcaret

3. Iberostar Paraiso Maya

4. Riu

5. Grand Palladium

Things I have considered to requests are:

-Outside vendors

-How much the extra decorations will cost

-Guests' daypasses.

For this vacation we are staying at the Sandos, it was cheap but I don't have my hopes up. I haven't read the best reviews for the Sandos but MEXICO here we come!!! Cinco de Mayo in Mexico, how cool is that!

Sandra

P.S. We are planning for a May 2011 wedding if that makes a difference.

Great month - same as ours :-) I would see if you set it up ahead of time if they allow menu samplings of the wedding option menus. Food makes it or breaks it for me especially for guests who have flown all the way to Mexico for a wedding. Good luck and have a great trip - I would LOVE to be going some place hot right now :-s Super jealous lol

Sandra, I am so excited for you. I hope you have a great trip!!

I am between the Barcelo Maya Tropical and the Grand Palladium for 2011 so I'll be looking forward to your reviews. I think it may be helpful for you to keep record of how far the resorts are from each other in case you have guests staying at different places. Again, so excited for you!

check the wedding locations...if they are private or public...or if that matters to you.

some resorts are better for that than others. also...ask to see what the back up plan is if it rains.

we picked a resort we had been to 2x...but only saw the wedding locations in photos online afterwards. we just got married a week ago and still didn't see the wedding location until we walked down the aisle. it was everything we wanted and more...couldn't be more happy. plus...just on a side note...even if we had planned all these little details for the ceremony i wouldn't of remembered it...the whole day seems like a dream it happened so fast!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
