Hello fellow newbie!

I focused on time when we selecting Jamaica. Our time frame for our wedding is tight so I didn't want to spend more than 6 or 7 hours flying. I also wanted a resort that was relatively close to the airport so our guests wouldn't have to spend a bunch of additional time traveling to the resort. Also certain islands/resorts require different residency requirements in order to get married. There are some places that require you to be there for 72 hours not counting weekends before you can be married. That would have been too much time for us to be there before the ceremony.

We also looked at amenities at the resorts and what activities are offered.

Oh, yeah and price too!

Good luck making your decision!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! You'll be overwhelmed with information here but I'm so grateful for it. My friends and family are mainly in California, but my FI's family is in Maryland/Florida, so we "triangulated" and decided on the Riviera Maya to be fair to both sides.

Best of luck with planning!

Congrats and welcome !

I'm also from Houston and we finally decided for the Riviera Maya because it is so convenient to fly to Cancun from Houston - tons of direct - and short - flights ! Other places where there are direct flights to are Puerto Rico, and possibly other places in Mexico.

Good luck with your planning !

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
