Hi All,

My name is Natalie, and I just got engaged 3 weeks ago. I came on here to learn how to plan the best destination wedding ever. I am going to be getting married in April 2011 in Punta Cana...still picking the hotel. I really am interested in the Iberostar Grand, but there is not that much info that I have found about weddings there yet.

My finance lives in Calgary so I will be moving there June 7th, 2010. I am already head deep in my wedding planning and have even bought my dress...now I just have to narrow down my wedding spot.

Any tips would be great.

Natalie

Welcome to BDW and to Calgary!!! You didn't waste any time finding a dress. For me, that was the worst part. Well that and picking a place...and organizing travel! haha.

Anyways, if you have your eye on some place specific you really should read posts on the resorts thread on here. And ask questions to people that have booked already. Also, your travel agent has probably been to tons of places so she's a good resource too. Good Luck and Happy Planning!

Congrats and welcome to Alberta! Im originally from the GTA and moved to Calgary back in 1997. I moved just outside of Calgary last year. Trust me you will love getting around Calgary - way better then TO. I lived there until I was 18 and I would still get lost! LOL Basically impossible to do here once you figure out that the "streets" always go north and south and "avenues" always go east and west. Oh and the majority of the "trails" go north to south. Trust me it wont take long....lol

You will have a ton of places to check out and make sure you check out the "canadian brides - where to shop" thread on here - tons of info in there as to where to get OOT items, dresses, etc.

Good luck and all the best!!!

It is so nice to hear for my soon to be fellow Alberta friends. I am so scared to move...I am nervous I am not going to fit in. My FI said it was snowing in Calgary the other day..in APRIL?!?! Well I guess this is the beginning of several new adventures for me...so I hope they all work out.

Snow here I come! And then my beach wedding to follow wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
