Hi Ladies,

I was married in PR in 2008. I am from NY and used a wedding planner for my destination wedding-so I have been through the whole process. My wedding was amazing! I would love to share any info if you would like!

Hi,

Did you get married in San Juan? We are planning a destination wedding in San Juan next year and are just begining the planning process. Do you have any suggestions for a wedding reception venue, perhaps someplace in Old San Juan? We are planning to visit fairly soon to check out some places. Our guests will probably be staying at one of the large beach resorts or hotels, and we are thinking about having the rehearsal dinner there, but the wedding and ceremony in Old San Juan. Any tips or suggestions are much welcomed! Thanks!

We are going to have our ceremony in a church but we're looking for a reception venue for the party after the ceremony (for 60+ guests, dinner/cocktails/dancing). We are going to be in San Juan in May to look at some options. Do you have any suggestions? The place I keep on seeing is the Hotel El Convento, which seems kind of expensive.

We would like to either have it in Old San Juan, or someplace on the beach, or at least with an ocean view, but where we have the option of having it partly inside and outside. I haven't heard of the beach club you mentioned.

We haven't decided on a hotel for our guests yet, but we will probably have the rehearsal dinner there, and so we're looking at having the wedding reception someplace different, since the wedding isn't going to be at the hotel anyways.

Yeah budget in PR is very important especially for 60+ guests Old San Juan can really get expensive. If you want an ocean view for a wedding its definitely best if you book your wedding in the same hotel your staying at since the rate will probably be best. Our venue had an ocean view and was incredible (as I said before), but with the change of management I wouldn't recommend it(although my wedding did work out perfectly in the end getting there was a PITA), but here it is http://www.escambron.com/.. Hotel El Convento is definitely beautiful and most of the places/hotels in Old San Juan will probably range around the same price but another hotel you could check into is The Gallery Inn - Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Here is a specific website on some vendors etc in PR Destination Weddings Puerto Rico.

Casa Espana is another venue I am familliar with in Old San Juan. I think its absolutely breathtaking even though its not located in front of a beach Casa de España en Puerto Rico | Facebook.

Another idea you may think about is also to have your rehersal dinner in Old San Juan(there are many restaurants like Barrachina and others) that offer spectacular scenery and amazing food :).. Most of these places have a minimum but if you set the date to a non typical wedding day(like monday-friday and sunday) they may definitely work out the price with you.. Hope this helps you in a way.

I am also getting married in old San Juan and looking for a restaurant to host a reception at. We are thinking something somewhat casual with about 40 people including the bridal party. Did you ever decide what to do for your reception? Anyone out there have any suggestions?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
